Muddy Soiree

Did you get to the Muddy literary salon over in Henley-on-Thames last Sat? If not here's the lowdown.

The second Muddy literary salon went off with a bang in Henley-on-Thames. Here’s our ed-in-chief Hero with the lowdown…

We came, we saw, we chin-wagged. And we enjoyed a few cocktails along the way, naturally. A massive THANK YOU to all you Muddy readers who came along to our author event last Saturday, in collaboration with Henley Literary Festival. It was a windy, rainy night and we had stiff competition with Strictly on the box so we were thrilled to see such a huge turnout of glam, lively, chatty Muddy readers.

Our stellar line up of authors: Cosmo ed-in-chief Farrah Storr, comedian Viv Groskop and acclaimed first time novelist Caroline O’Donoghue

Me and Muddy associate ed Kerry just before we took to the stage (gulp)

I’d love to say it was a night of high-brow literary debate but, well, the conversation did descend into a discussion about massages with a happy ending at one point. We’ll blame Cosmopolitan editor-in-chief and author of The Discomfort Zone for that eye-opening tangent! Farrah, stand-up comedian and writer Viv Groskop and hotshot debut novelist Caroline O’Donoghue were, collectively, a brilliantly engaging, witty, clever panel, with founder Hero and associate ed Kerry the hostesses with the mostest (if we do say so ourselves).

If you couldn’t make it down, worry not – watch all the action here.

A big Muddy shout-out to fab local businesses who helped us with our goody bags – House Of BlueBelle for the gorgeous candles, Rituals for the beauty samples, Tonic Mind Body Studio in Henley for the discount voucher for massages and The Bull On Bell Street‘s enticing 25% off dinner through to November 6th. The latter also expertly hosted our salon pre-drinks – it was a devilishly tempting 2-for-1 on cocktails so we heroically ploughed through a LOT of watermelon spritzes. Not forgetting Anthony Worrall Thompson’s The Greyhound in Rotherfield Peppard who have offered a free slap-up meal for one lucky new Muddy subscriber (if you signed up on an iPad on the night, it could be you! We’ll be announcing the winner imminently).

So, how was it for you? We’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments box below. And watch this space – more marvellous Muddy events coming your way soon!
