Oh yes they are! Nine local pantos to book now
Christmas just isn't the same without pantos. Tickets are flying out of the box office for these crackers in Warwickshire and the West Mids, so you'd better book now
Goldilocks and the Three Bears, Birmingham Hippodrome, 18 Dec-30 Jan
Jason Donovan makes his pantomime debut as the Evil Ringmaster in the Hippodrome’s festive offering. He’s joined by Eastenders actor Matt Slack, and with sets and costumes straight from the London Palladium, it promises to be a good one. Roll up, roll up!
Beauty and the Beast, The Belgrade, 24 Nov – 8 Jan
Expect a Christmas calamity when Coventry dame Iain Lauchlan returns to the stage with sidekick Craig Hollingsworth. Performances will be to a full house but socially distanced on Nov 24 and Jan 5.
Cinderella, Benn Hall, Rugby, 17 Dec-30 Dec
You might not go to the ball, but you’ll certainly have a ball at Five Star Theatre’s production of Cinderella. Expect the regular team to be waving wands and donning glass slippers – and get your tickets quick as it’s always popular!
Aladdin, Royal Spa Centre, 4 Dec-2 Jan
This year the Leamington-based theatre will be jumping on magic carpets in Aladdin. Pantos in this local space are always a full house, and we love that it’s in the centre of town for a late lunch after the matinee.
Cinderella, Abbey Theatre, Nuneaton, 8 Dec-12 Dec
Expect the familiar rags-to-riches, glass slipper shenanigans, with plenty of brash ugly step-sister action at this local theatre.
Dick Whittington, Albany Theatre, 30 Dec-8 Jan
The Albany has been going from strength-to-strength this year so it seems fitting 2021 is the first time it’s put on a panto. Oh yes it is! And where better to start than with the timeless classic of Dick Whittington?
Puss in Boots, Talisman Theatre, 17 Dec-1 Jan
This small theatre in the centre of Kenilworth impresses each year with its family production. If you’re looking for something a little more low-key than the big names then it’s definitely worth a look – it’s also completely run by volunteers and funded by ticket sales, so show some love!
Cinderella, Wolverhampton Grand Theatre, 4 Dec-9 Jan
They don’t call it the nation’s favourite panto for nothing! Strictly pro AJ Pritchard and brother Curtis star – you guessed it – as Prince Charming and Dandini in this classic. Take your dancing shoes.
Jack and the Beanstalk, Stratford Playhouse, 18 Dec-31 Dec
Bean there, done all the other pantos (sorry!) – then this might be the one for you. Head along to Stratford Playhouse to see if Jack can kill the giant and rescue the beautiful Princess.
