<p>RSC Rooftop Restaurant is Stratford’s show-off — and honestly, we don’t mind. Sitting right on top of the theatre, it serves polished modern British food with the River Avon as its plus-one. <p>The Vintner is a personal fave. It’s small, cosy and wine-first in the best possible way — the kind of spot where you pop in for a glass and suddenly it’s dinner. The food’s exactly what you want with good wine: the steak frites is our go-to, the seasonal stuff is always tempting, and it all feels nicely unfussy. If you’re stuck on what to drink (we often are), just ask — they’re great at nudging you towards something you’ll actually enjoy. </p>

<p>The Fuzzy Duck is a Muddy award winner for a reason. Just a few minutes from Stratford, it’s the kind of country pub-with-rooms that gets <em>everything</em> right — cosy fires, a proper welcome and food you immediately trust. It’s picked up AA Rosettes and a Michelin Guide mention, but nothing feels showy about it. Start with the bread (always), lean into the duck dishes (you won’t regret it), and leave room for pudding — the affogato has form. <p>The Encore is exactly the kind of place you want on speed-dial when plans are loose and appetites are keen. Right in the buzz of Stratford, it combines fun menus with a vibe that never takes itself too seriously — brunch, pizza, proper burgers and a few clever twists on pub classics. We’ve found ourselves there more than a few times when the group can’t agree, and somehow everyone ends up happy. The margherita with nduja is a sneaky favourite, and the Sunday roast has earned its loyal crowd. Think loudish laughter, friendly staff, and decent drinks that go well with whatever’s on your plate — no fuss, just good food and good company.</p>

<p>This is one of Stratford’s best-loved riverside spots — and once you’ve been, it’s easy to see why. Sitting right on the Avon (you’re practically over the water), it’s a relaxed but grown-up bistro run by chef-owner Nick Rowberry — yes, <em>that</em> Nick from Clarkson’s Farm. The food is seasonal, confident and properly enjoyable: daily fish specials, excellent Sunday roasts, and bistro-style dishes that feel spot-on for the setting. Grab a table by the glass terrace if you can, order something fishy, and settle in — this is a lunch-that-turns-into-dinner kind of place, and nobody’s judging.
