Cool local cafe
Where can you pick up a 1970s retro American typewriter and order a gift box of award-winning gourmet brownies online while getting your daily fix of Monmouth Coffee? Read on...
Warwickshire-based Nikki Taylor, the talented lady behind award-winning Blue Basil Gourmet chocolate brownie gift boxes (as featured in Vogue’s hot list – they’re THAT good! I can vouch for that) opened Bluebasil, a quirky coffee bar and vintage store in Lower Leamington earlier this year.
If you haven’t already popped in here’s a quick taster. I love the rich Farrow and Ball Hague Blue walls with ornate vintage bird cages, mirrors and paintings hanging down from copper piping.
You can browse while you sip but you’re liable to be tempted by the delicious treats on display.
You can also take some Monmouth Coffee home with you…
or some Orla Kiely retro home accessories.
REVIEW: BLUEBASIL GOURMET BROWNIES
Here’s just how beautifully packaged Nikki’s gourmet brownies are – perfect for a special vintage style tea-time treat sent with your own personal message in a box tied with string and luggage tag.
When you open the box, the brownies are wrapped in blue tissue paper on a bed of straw.
They come in 6 different flavours: Original Chocolate Fudge, Classic Chunky Chocolate, Chunky White Chocolate, Hazelnut Chocolate, Coffee & Walnut (my fave) and Chocwork Orange.
MUDDY VERDICT:
Good for: Foodies. Each tasted so fresh and was utterly delicious. A brilliant gift to order online and send in the post for anyone with a sweet tooth, particularly all too tricky teenagers!
££: A box of 9 pieces of brownies is £15.50. This can be in assorted flavours, one-flavour, classic flavours or a nut-free selection.
