More than 500,000 people have signed up for Veganuary 2021. If you’re one of them, do your bit – and support local businesses offering vegan takeaways, cakes and beer during January and beyond.
Stratford’s only dedicated vegan cafe, tucked away in a peaceful courtyard opposite Shakespeare’s Birthplace, is a lovely independent Polish family run business and opened two years ago. The inventive owners, who are vegan themselves, create all their dishes from scratch (check out their Insta here). Popular menu choices include Trip to Mexico, a marinated spicy tofu wrap with cashew queso sauce, plant-based cheese, veg, avocado and tortilla crisps, along with homemade vegan Biscoff cake. This highly rated independent South Indian restaurant takes inspiration from Kerala, Bangladesh and Goa, combining ancient and modern influences to create authentic home-cooked dishes from vegan spinach and potato patties starters to mains including Baigan and soya bean bartha (Aubergine and soya beans in a medium spiced sauce). Apart from paneer dishes, all vegetarian food on the menu is vegan and when placing a takeaway order request no Ghee is used.
Warwick Street Kitchen (WSK), Leamington
Order delicious all-day vegan flatbreads online for brekkie, brunch or tea from this popular Leamington indie via a click and collect service here. There’s curried cauliflower or sweet potato and kidney bean falafel (pictured) from £11.50. There’s hummus and pickles as sides, along with vegan brownies for pudding. Open until 9pm.
Coffee Architects & Fanny’s Fancies pop-ups, Leamington, Thurs & Fri
If you’re a vegan with a sweet tooth Coffee Architects and Fanny’s Fancies run a fantastic lockdown cake counter takeaway weekly on Thurs & Fri between 10am-2pm from Fanny’s kitchen door at Unit 11 Rigby Close Heathcote Ind Estate, Leamington. There’s lots of amazing vegan treats from Sam Avery at Coffee Architects including an array of vegan Little Fancies including Oreo, Biscoff, Banana nut and lemon and blueberry. Love Bread & Co, Warwick

Falafel Corner, Coventry
If street food’s more your thing, these falafel, hummus and fresh salad wraps along with freshly squeezed juice are epic – this all-vegan Middle Eastern city centre takeaway joint’s also hugely popular with both Cov and Warwick Uni students!
This independent family-run artisan stone-baked pizza start-up which has Stratford-based Michelin starred chef Paul Foster as its executive chef is delivering two 12-inch vegan pizzas this month. They are: a Veganuary guest Marinara with grilled zucchini and fresh garlic, black olives, red onions and oregano and The Vegan Garden with artichoke hearts, spring and red onions, chestnut mushrooms, and red capsicums (no mozzarella) but vegan cheese available. Cost: £10 each. Sides include super-veg salad, hummus and green olives. Warwickshire’s Purity Beer and pizza home-kits available to order too.
La Casa Loco, Rugby
A vegan menu with all the flavours of South America includes enchiladas, chimichangas and a Vegan El Stacko (a Mexican-style lasagne) can be ordered for takeaway and delivery – with frozen Margaritas and 12 other cocktails at this independent Mexican and Cajun restaurant. Arriba!
Mor Bakery’s Kitchen, Stratford-upon-Avon
This independent sourdough bakery & kitchen in Stratford’s Bell Court has a range of tasty vegan treats to order online from smashed avo on toast with vegan feta to a nourish bowl and vegan plate. They also do feast nights – tonight (Jan 15) it’s a Chinese takeaway
Hilltop Farm, Hunningham, near Leamington Spa
Throughout the various Lockdowns Hilltop Farm has been running a range of takeaways during the week and weekend with a number of vegan options such as their vegan falafel burger.
Dirty Kitch, Fargo Village, Coventry
Specialising in 100% vegan Southern style home cooking and street food to takeaway Dirty Kitsch temporarily closed in Dec but is set to reopen later in 2021, so thought we’d give them a shout out.
Purity Brewing Company, Great Alne, Alcester
Warwickshire’s Purity Brewing Company has a wide range of vegan beers to order online for home delivery including their award-winning Organic Pure Helles and Purity Session IPA (above) – top prize-winner for Best Flavoured Beer in the 2020 International Beer Challenge. Twisted Barrel, Coventry
Coventry’s artisan vegan brewery makes hand crafted, flavourful beer in small batches at FarGo Village. This month the company is offering a range of Tryanuary packs – alcoholic and alcohol free including a £30 Tap in a Box which has 6 750ml bottle fills (from draught) and two pub snacks (choose from vegan jerky, nuts, crisps).
Their beers include Finlandia – 6.0% Coffee Porter brewed with Costa Rican coffee from Quarter Horse Coffee in Birmingham, God’s Twisted Sister, an oatmeal stout and I am the Muffin, a hoppy Belgian pale.
Weekly home deliveries are made to any address with a CV post code every Thurs or Fri, for all orders received by midday on Wed, with free delivery when ordering over £25 (use the code HOMEDEL). Next day national deliveries also available.
V Stack, Oxford
If your perception of vegan grub is boring veg and rabbit food, this will definitely change your mind. Started as the side hustle of two sisters, V Stack started selling its burgers at Gloucester Green Market in central Oxford and began delivering to the local area during lockdown (Sat delivery only, pre-order by 5pm on Fri). Cauliflower is the headliner here with two dirty burger options and must-try buff wings, a plant-based take on spicy chicken wings.
Somerset’s newest vegan cafe
One of Muddy Somerset’s top picks is the newly opened vegan coffee shop and deli Mooli Foodworks in Wellington is delivering some of their themed menu during the lockdown and Veganuary. Look out for Nofish Fridays, Eastern-inspired dishes Tues to Thurs and Mediterranean style nosh on Sat. This spicy Scotch egg looks amazing.
Tierra Kitchen, in Lyme Regis, Dorset
Veggie and vegan food with flavours of the Med – mezzes, falafels, arancini, samosas, tarte tatin, tagines, breads, pastries, cakes – made with seasonal produce from West Dorset and East Devon. Tierra Kitchen, in Lyme Regis’ artisan quarter is open for takeaways Tues to Sat 9am–2om but you can cook up one of their vegan recipes 24/7.
