Yum! Early Pancake Party, Fargo Village, Sat Feb 25

This year Shrove Tuesday falls on February 28 but if you fancy celebrating Pancake Day a little earlier check out the choice of pancakes at Fargo Village, Coventry’s new creative quarter full of independent food traders, this Saturday, 11am-6pm.

Nicky’s Totally Vegan cafe based at Fargo Village, will be serving up traditional Vegan Pancakes with sugar and lemon, or fresh fruit including bananas, blueberries, apples, blackberries and more seasonal fruit from £2. Toppings including agave syrup, maple syrup, dairy-free chocolate spread and lemon curd. Dairy-free cream or squirty cream can be added for 50p. The dairy-free pancakes are made from flour, sugar, soya milk, a pinch of salt and baking powder.

Choc “n” Roll , a family-run business led by chef Tony Davies make artisan handmade chocolates and macarons. They will be cooking up Crepe Suzette and Cherry Jubilee Pancakes  accompanied with homemade ice-cream including chocolate, rum and raisin, coconut and vanilla. The firm moved from Leamington Spa into their new studio Fargo Village studio in 2016.

The Vegan Grindhouse by Vegan Vox  will be creating a variety of Vegan American Pancakes in their Food Truck: Banana and Maple Syrup, Peanut Butter and Banana, Chocolate and Marshmallow, Chocolate and Banana, Chocolate Sauce, Strawberry sauce and Maple Syrup.

 

Also on the menu for anyone who feels like something savoury will be Jumbo Grindhouse Hot Dogs with Wood smoked Tofu hot dogs in a soft sub roll, topped with ketchup, mustard and crispy fried onions (£5).

American dessert diner Spangles in Fargo Village will be serving All You Can Eat Pancakes for £5.95 actually on Pancake Day, Tues Feb 28, 10am-5pm. If you want to reserve one of the last few tables do it soon as they are nearly fully booked.

While you’re there why not have a wander around some of the vintage stores, street fashion boutiques and artists’ studios at Fargo. Meet some of the other tenants including freelance Warwickshire artist Alison Johnson, the Big Comfy Book Shop, the Rock ‘n’ Roller Parlour, Bubble Tea House, children’s animation workshop: Let’s Animate, Leave it to Esmie’s Caribbean Restaurant, David Charles Jewellery and the Yogamasti Yoga Shop.

    I’m lay in bed on a cold Sunday morning looking at those delicious pancakes, salivating almost and trying to conjure up a way of getting them to me… Without me setting a foot on the floor.
    I’d better go back to a dream as that’s the only way it’s going yo happen today, they look delicious though so next time I am down that way, I can’t wait to go and try them out! Thanks for the update on this cool place Catherine.
