How has Keanu Reeves not aged in 30 years?! The laconic Hollywood star is back in a fashion campaign that's got social media a-swooning. Shall we examine the evidence?
There was a mass swooning of women of a certain age on social media following the announcement of YSL’s latest campaign star. As pictures speak a thousand words, I’ll shut up for a minute (unusual) and let you have a look. Make it a long, lingering one – you won’t regret it.
Far be it from us to objectify men here at Muddy – that would be sexist, obviously – but can we just say that Keanu is looking absolutely SMOKING at 54 (he was born the same year as Nigel Farage, by the way. Yup, really). These deliciously moody monochrome images for YSL’s AW19 menswear were shot by David Sims, featuring a leather jacket’n’sunglasses combo that’s approximately 8,000 times cooler than the one Keanu wore in The Matix.
The veteran Canadian actor is widely known as one of the nicest guys in Hollywood (there’s loads of anecdotes out there about him buying amazing presents for film crews and helping people in need) and if you caught him on The Graham Norton Show last week, you’ll have noted that he’s basically the same as he ever was (bar a dollop of Grecian 2000 on that still luxuriant mane perhaps) – laid back, amiable and totally cool. And of all our ’80s/’90s Hollywood favourites, he’s one very few who hasn’t been mired in controversy, behaved badly, made terrible decisions or had too much surgery (I’m looking at you, Johnny Depp, Brad Pitt, Charlie Sheen and Rob Lowe.)
And there’s more to Keanu’s comeback than high fashion posing. He and Alex Winter recently announced they’re finally making the third Bill & Ted film, 30 years (yes, we are old) after the first movie. Whether or not two fiftysomethings can get away with playing time-travelling student slackers who knows, but we’ll be tuning in next summer. As Bill & Ted themselves would put it, Excellent!
