Too hot to sleep? Yep, us too. But these summer PJs are as wafty and airy as they are stylish.
What to wear when it’s 30 degrees in your bedroom at night? Well, I guess “nothing” is probably the answer but for those of us who worry about burglars seeing our bits (not just me, surely?!) it’s a case of hunting down easy, breezy summer nightwear.
I find it so hard to find stylish PJs and nightshirts on the high street – why are they all festooned with crap logos and garish prints that don’t appeal to anyone over the age of 12? Conversely why would I want to wear an appallingly old-fashioned polyester nightie that makes me look like Miss Havisham? Why are pyjama legs often so annoyingly flappy?! (The Rosie Huntington-Whiteley for M&S PJs used to major on chic tapered legs but, alas, no more.) And don’t get me started on those ‘sexy’, highly flammable negligées… Anyway, I think I’ve found a solution so we can all rest easy once more.
Cult brand Eberjey has been around for a while, starting life as an underwear line before adding in night and loungewear. It’s made in Miami (they know a thing or two about sultry summer nights there) and Kate Hudson, Keira Knightley and Emma Watson are fans. I’m really into their cool (in both senses) PJ short sets, especially this cream modal jersey combo with navy stitching. It’s currently £100 on Net-a-Porter so not cheap but not terrifyingly expensive either. And there are other styles in the sale so if you’re quick you’ll nab yourself a bargain. I’m also coveting this gingham set (£115)
as well as these guys, with a grown-up puppy print and pink trim (£81 down from £135 in the sale).
Just make sure you buy from a UK stockist – Selfridges, Harrods and Fenwicks also stock Eberjey – rather than the brand’s own US-based website to avoid being stung by huge shipping fees.
Looking for more Eberjey inspo? No problemo!
Now you just need a docile but dishy manservant to waft you with palm leaves while you sleep. Sweet dreams!
