Warwickshire’s Also Festival

Warwickshire's fab award-winning boutique festival at Park Farm is now in its 4th year. A real treat for foodies - highlights include a Victorian Shipwrecked Midnight Feast!

We’re delighted to announce that Muddy readers have been given a special discount on tickets for Also until Sun May 21. Check out the line-up, and then scroll down for a discount code to make you very, very happy…

One of the UK’s best boutique festivals with mouth-watering theatrical fine dining and an intellectually stimulating line-up, Also 2017 is just weeks away. And it’s right on our doorstep in the idyllic Warwickshire countryside – so no long commute and a fab family day out. If you haven’t got your tickets yet, what are you waiting for?

The brilliant 2017 line up for the lake-side Also festival at Park Farm, Compton Verney June 30-July 2 includes discussions, wild swims and lots to tempt gourmet foodies, including a Victorian Shipwrecked Midnight Feast & a Caribbean Rum Shack on the shores of Compton Pools.  Think sunrise wild swims, a theatrical Truth and Dare Banquet with a Pudding Procession and a Sunday Balearic Brunch bringing a taste of Ibiza (with jugs of cava sangria).

Also is a “small festival with big ideas” founded by Juliet Russell, a vocal coach on ITV’s The Voice and Warwickshire-born playwright Helen Bagnall, who created the immensely popular Salon London. This summer’s discussions include Brexit one year on, ancient mythology, psychoactive substance laws, embracing past experiences and analysing the ways radicals use tech.

You can immerse yourself in new experiences from wine tasting and cabaret to extreme song lyric bingo, rave yoga and bringing scents to life through human voices. Try your hand at making a sweet-smelling Glamping Bouquet, perform in a newly created choral piece led by festival co-founder Juliet Russell or go on a Bat Walk.

Here the rock stars are professors, authors, theorists, philosophers and writers. Listen to London Imperial College’s Professor David Nutt talk about how the Psychoactive Substances Act amounts to scientific censorship; Psychiatrist Professor Carmine Pariante on the complex systems behind good mental health and geneticist Dr Adam Rutherford divulge just how much we are all immigrants in the UK.

British psychotherapist Philippa Perry is on hand to decode our dreams, top philosopher Roman Krznaric will be reclaiming the Latin phrase Carpe Diem and University of Oxford’s Dr Charles Foster will be asking: ‘Could you live like a badger? He did exactly that while researching his latest book.

Also’s beautiful lakeside banqueting tent hosts delectable fine dining experiences. Enjoy a Summer Afternoon Tea with cheeky cocktails for the grown-ups, plus Sylvie’s Champagne Hour. New for 2017 is a Caribbean Rum Shack. There’s also the Shakespearean Midsummer Night’s Dream restaurant serving food locally sourced within 10 miles, and the Truth or Dare High Tea.

DJs and live musicians provide the soundtrack to the weekend. An ‘icons’ series will celebrate some of pop music’s greatest icons with one-hour masterclasses, designed to help master a classic from Prince, Kate Bush David Bowie and Aretha Franklin. Enjoy a dedicated playlist from Northern Soul Hour, 70s inspired Studio 54 Disco and Sundaze DJ Sessions.

Summer Afternoon Tea

For children and teens there’s Lip Sync Battles, Musical Theatre Oke, ornate Lantern Making and a special programme of foodie events including the Kidnight Beast – a midnight feat packed with storytelling and woodland animals – plus the Summer Afternoon Tea, swimming in the lake and lots of fresh air.

Luxury camping options include the Safari Hotel – 5-star fully furnished luxury bell tents overlooking the lake…or stay at the nearby Walton Hall Hotel in Wellesbourne.

Weekend tickets for Also with camping start at £120 but for Muddy readers an adult weekend is £100 and a family weekend ticket is £250 before Sun May 21!  The code to unlock is: MUD17.
