Get into the groove with Motionhouse
This leading UK dance-circus company in Leamington Spa is launching three new classes in Jan 2020 for littlies, over 60's and boys aged 11+.
Love to dance? Following the success of their weekly dance classes, Motionhouse is launching three innovative new classes starting in the new year at their Leamington Spa dance studio in Spencer Yard, Leamington Spa, CV31 3SY:
1. Discover Dance and Play
Perfect for parents and carers with their littlies, this family-friendly class, held every Tuesday 10-11am, focuses on dance and sensory play to introduce children aged 2-5 years to the world of movement, music and expression.
2. Dance Fit for over 60s
Bring music, dance and joy to your Tuesday afternoons. Held every Tuesday 1-2.30pm, these fun and supportive classes for men and women aged 60 plus offer dance-based exercises to keep active while socialising with like-minded people. Dance is for everyone, regardless of age or physical ability, and if this is not reason enough, our sessions end with tea and biscuits.
3. Surge – a male youth dance company
Build strength, agility and confidence with these physical and fun dance classes for boys aged 11 plus. High-energy classes held every Thursday 4.30-5.30pm.
Founded by Louise Richards and Kevin Finnan in 1988, Motionhouse is a leading UK dance-circus company. The company integrates elements of circus and acrobatics with contact choreography and breath-taking dance to create their distinctive style. It creates spectacles where music, visuals, dance and powerful physicality work together, and go touring with their productions to theatres and festivals across the world. Motionhouse has developed a reputation over the years for ambitious experimentation. A wide ranging education and participatory programme runs parallel to our touring performance work.
Artistic Director Kevin Finnan was Choreographer and Movement Director of the Opening Ceremony of the London 2012 Paralympic Games and is regularly commissioned to create large-scale works, including 3 European Capital of Culture celebrations. He has made more than 35 productions for Motionhouse. Finnan was made an MBE in 2013 for his services to dance – a sector he has been contributing to since he created Motionhouse with Executive Director Louise Richards in 1988. The company celebrated its 30th anniversary in 2018. The company is supported using public funding by Arts Council England.
Motionhouse’s weekly programme of dance classes encourages students to be creative, strong, dedicated, curious and adventurous.
