<p>Round of applause, please &#8211; short film <em>Brothers</em> has officially become BAFTA-qualified for Best British Short Film 2026, and yes, it was filmed right here. Even better? David Bradley (of <em>Game of Thrones</em> and <em>Harry Potter </em>fame) was spotted in Kidderminster, spending two days in the area while filming the project. The emotional short film follows a family thrust into a life-changing situation that puts their bonds to the ultimate test – bring tissues, this one&#8217;s a proper heart tugger. It&#8217;s a total pinch-me moment for director Ross Syner, and an even prouder one for the local film scene. We’re not crying, you are.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-tamworth-gets-a-glow-up">Tamworth gets a glow-up</h2>

<p>Ah, the Renaissance of the High Street. If you’ve been craving a proper mooch (the kind involving independent shops and coffee), make a beeline for Tamworth. As part of a multi-million pound regeneration project, <a href="https://www.tamworth.gov.uk/town-hall-place" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Town Hall Place </a>is opening its doors this January and February &#8211; and its bringing serious fresh energy with it. Brand-spanking new but nodding nicely to the town’s heritage (think classic looks with a modern twist), the development will house  seven independent units, including an African and Caribbean food market, a ceramic and crafts studio, a haberdashery, and a health-focussed café. Basically: excellent browsing potential. Dream of setting up shop yourself? There are still a few units up for grabs at wallet-friendly rents – but hurry! Tamworth’s town centre has officially had a glow up.</p>

A brand-new arts and culture festival is heading to Kenilworth from Mon 2 &#8211; Sun 8 Feb – <em>that’s right</em>, say hello to the <a href="https://www.kenilworthbooks.co.uk/event/kenilworth-fringe-festival-2026/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Kenilworth Fringe Festival</a>. Expect live music, thought-provoking political chats, arts and crafts sessions, and poetry readings popping up all over the town. With tickets either completely free or priced between £10-£35, it&#8217;s super accessible too. It’s sprawled across an array of venues, so unless you’re an absolute map master, you’ll be playing a very cultural game of Russian roulette – wander in, see what you stumble upon and let curiosity lead the way. </p>

Known as the UK’s largest free urban motorsport festival, <a href="https://www.coventrymotofest.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Coventry’s MotoFest</a> is revving back into Coventry this June with a brand-new, heritage-themed event. MotoFest Classic takes over the city centre on <strong>Sat 6 &amp; Sun 7 June</strong>, celebrating Coventry’s enormous contribution to global transport history. Picture this: streets packed with stunning classic vehicles, live music pumping through the city, and an <em>absolute</em> badass opening act in the form of a motorcycle ride-in.  Fast, free and full of fuel-soaked nostalgia, this is one for petrolheads, history lovers and anyone who enjoys a bit of spectacle. Ready to find your ride-or-die?</p>
