Artisan Alchemy Gallery, the Jewellery Quarter, Birmingham
A fine jewellery and bespoke furniture gallery, established by contemporary British jewellery designer Michele White, showcasing the best of UK design and craftsmanship in Birmingham's historic jewellery quarter.
Michele White is an acclaimed British contemporary jewellery designer, producing innovative collections in precious metals and gemstones.
She owns Artisan Alchemy Gallery, a bespoke fine jewellery and furniture gallery in a renovated 18th century building located in Birmingham’s historic Jewellery Quarter. Born and bred in London, she trained as a potter and was previously an art teacher but switched to jewellery after taking time off to have her children and subsequently wanting a change of direction. She then attended the School of Jewellery in Birmingham.
Michele has 35 years of experience as a jeweller, and she is a member of the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists.
Early on Michele was influenced by the jewellery of Rene Lalique. A subtle Art Nouveau style can often be found in her work and she also loves to use gemstones that stand out from the ordinary, with an interesting inclusion or unusual cut. She also celebrates other jewellery makers. Presently there are four other jewellers showing their work in the gallery. As with her own jewellery, she chooses jewellers whose work is out of the ordinary.
Artisan Alchemy Gallery also champions artistic craftsmanship in bespoke furniture, showcasing many of the best British furniture designers in the gallery and many more online. It is a one-stop shop for beautiful bespoke fine furniture from sculptural lamps to outstanding chairs and tables, and features the work of around 35 national and Internationally recognised makers.
To the rear of the gallery there are dedicated spaces for young businesses to grow: perfect for small start-ups and creative enterprises.
The gallery is open Tuesday – Saturday, 11am – 5pm.
