Coombe Abbey Hotel

Not your average luxe country house hotel – Coombe Abbey is set in 121 acres complete with Go Ape course, gorge restaurant and is pretty much the perfect venue for a day out, night out, overnight stay or jaw-dropping wedding.

Imagine your wildest Bridgerton fantasy (we’re talking four poster beds here – you’ll have to bring your own Regé-Jean…) in the Baroque surrounds of a country estate that you can call your own… well, for a couple of nights anyway.

The hotel, with its medieval origins, links with the Gunpowder Plot and rollcall of regal guests, is a bit spesh. It’s got 121 bedrooms, all with their own quirks and style, handily put into categories to make it easier to know which one to book for families, couples, friends and so on. The grounds, gardens, lake and woodlands extend over 500 acres so there’s plenty of room to explore and build up an appetite before afternoon tea/dinner in the drop-dead gorgeous Garden Room Restaurant, or perhaps a carve-your-own roast dinner with all your nearest and dearest.

Far from being your average luxe country house hotel, Coombe Abbey also boasts a Go Ape course, fishing, pottery studio, Flowers at Coombe florist and new to the offering, an artisan produce market and a 1950s style American diner, serving sundaes, waffles and the like. Talk about crowd pleaser.

Plus also, it makes an awesome wedding and events venue in case you hadn’t guessed and a great place for a day out if you don’t want to take the plunge and pack a suitcase (though we reckon you’ll wish you had).

There hotel also hosts a load of events over the year – tribute acts, murder mystery nights, medieval banquets – a legitimate hook for a friends getaway if you need an excuse…
