Hotel du Vin Stratford-Upon-Avon

With its sleek interiors, mouthwatering bistro and new al fresco Champagne Terrace, Hotel du Vin Stratford-Upon-Avon makes for the perfect weekend getaway for foodies and history buffs alike.

Fancy a break in the birthplace of the Bard? Hotel du Vin Stratford-Upon-Avon‘s newest location sits at the North end of the town, and is perfectly placed for exploring its historic attractions – if you can tear yourself away from the Hotel’s excellent Bistro, well-stocked bar and cosy bedrooms, of course.

Housed in a historical building dating back to 1798, Hotel du Vin Stratford-Upon-Avon has been everything from a gentleman’s club to the town’s registry office, but since 2018 it’s been a chic, inviting getaway boasting exposed brick walls, jewel-toned velvet, industrial lighting and modern decor inspired by Shakespeare’s greatest works. There are 46 bedrooms, including three accessible and several dog-friendly (with an extra charge for Rover), with en-suite bathrooms boasting roll-top baths and luxe toiletries from L’Occitane.

Just popping in for a drink or a bite to eat? The hotel’s sleek Bistro du Vin is a popular date night spot for locals thanks to the excellent French-inspired menu, which features classics such as onion soup, cassoulet, moules marinère and juicy steaks with mountains of pommes frites. Plant-based guests will be pleasantly surprised by the delicious vegan options on offer, and there’s a small but perfectly formed children’s menu.

Recently launched for brunch lovers (guilty as charged), Hotel Du Vin Stratford-Upon-Avon is one of only three within the hotel chain trialling the new brunch menu available on Saturdays 11 am-2pm, offering staple dishes Eggs Benedict, Avo’ on Toast and crêpes – plus, to wash it all down, a selection of classic champagne cocktails or a Bloody Mary. As you’d expect, the wine list is a particular draw here (ask the Bistro staff for their recommendations), and the intimate, clubby bar is ideal for a post-meal cocktail. In the summer, head out to the new Champagne Terrace for dining and drinks al fresco.

Private dining, events and weddings are also available for up to 80 guests, with a choice of three stylish rooms. Rooms from £105 (room only) in March, with great dinner, bed and breakfast packages and other offers available year-round.
