New Hall Hotel & Spa, Sutton Coldfield

Fancy a luxury getaway in a historic hotel complete with it’s own moat and drawbridge? Let me introduce you to New Hall Hotel & Spa.

What started life as a Manor House, built by the Earl of Warwick as a hunting lodge in the 13th century, New Hall Hotel & Spa is today a 60-bedroom hotel, complete with towers, mullioned windows and its own drawbridge. Sound’s a bit like a fairytale, right?

The 800-year-old building is England’s oldest listed inhabited moated house with stunning historical features set in 26 acres of luscious gardens. Stop in one of the luxury suites, or even one of the rooms which formerly belonged to the lord and lady of the manor. Think four-poster beds, designer sofas and even dog-friendly rooms if you’re taking the pooch too.

The New Hall Spa is situated in the beautiful manicured gardens, complete with treatment rooms, swimming and spa pools, sauna, steam rooms and gym. For outdoorsy types there’s the tennis courts and pitch and putt.

Tuck into a menu of classic British dishes in the 2 AA Rosette Bridge House restaurant, or during the day there’s a popular afternoon tea which you can enjoy on the terrace, if the English weather plays ball…

For special occasions there’s private dining in the Great Chamber – a historic room added to the original building to honour Henry VIII during his visit to Sutton Coldfield. If it’s good enough for a king it’s good enough for Muddy!

There’s no occasion more special than a wedding, and the ones at New Hall are pretty spectacular. It’s one of the most unique venues in the West Mids from the ornate ceiling to the oak panelling, mouth-watering menus and gorgeous spaces for great pictures to look back on for years to come (assuming you don’t go too hard on the celebratory Pimms!).
