It’s safe to say independent musicians don’t get nearly enough love — which is a crying shame when they’re so bloody good. If you haven’t heard local artist Steven Faulkner’s stuff, it’s full of hope and empowerment, touching on themes like the climate crisis, internet trolls, and a certain recent pandemic. Hefty subjects, but treated with an astute and, ooh, rather catchy touch.

He’s also not averse to playing a gig full of covers – think Radiohead, David Bowie and Queen to name a few. It’s not your ‘standard’ music fare and will definitely get people talking (and dancing – most importantly).

Some of Steven’s music is self-written and self-performed (so, very much not a one trick pony!), and influenced by Britpop, grunge, alt-rock and more. Check out his Spotify to see for yourself. It’s particularly worth giving his two most recent singles a listen: released simultaneously, A Day By The Sea and A Night By The Sea are two different versions of the same song, about the desire to live life the right way and to not make mistakes. We love the concept of two matching-but-different singles.

We recommend for weddings, parties, corporate events or if you’re a bar looking for a stand-out musician – Steve played at our recent Muddy awards and was a huge hit.
