The sunny garden terrace at this beautifully restored Georgian boutique hotel and restaurant in the heart of Shipston-on-Stour reopens after a makeover on Mon April 12. They’ve also transformed the car park into ‘The George Alfresco’ – a stylish courtyard-style outdoor dining area.

Going forward food and drink will be served al fresco Thurs-Sun until May 17 when The George will return to a seven day opening. Until then the new hours will be Thurs & Fri 5-11pm, Sat 12-11pm and Sun 12pm-6pm.

The George reopened in April 2016, following a major refurbishment by owners, Brakspear. Located in the historic centre of the picturesque Cotswolds market town of Shipston-on-Stour, in Warwickshire, the Inn’s Pantry restaurant offers a superb range of British classics.

Its has 15 en-suite, twin and double bedrooms, come with luxurious en-suite showers and/or roll-top baths and king-size beds. The interiors combine original features with antiques, bold colours and luxurious modern fabrics to create a stylish townhouse feel throughout.

The kitchen is passionate about sourcing British and local, seasonal produce wherever possible to create The George’s weekly changing menus. These include The Pantry Breakfast – a ‘Within Five Miles’ full English and a Prix Fixe lunch menu. On Sundays, the ‘Sunday Family Roasts’ lunch menu includes a choice of three meats served on a large platter with all the trimmings. There’s also a private dining room seating 12, and outside, a spacious, decked patio.

Behind the Bar, cask ales, including Brakspear Bitter and Brakspear Oxford Gold, both brewed in nearby Witney, along with craft and guest beers, lagers and ciders, 60 wines and bespoke gin menu including Shipston-based Cotswolds Distillery.
