The Herbert Art Gallery and Museum, Coventry
Looking for a bit of culture for free in the centre of Cov? Let me introduce you to this quirky gallery and museum, home to world-class exhibitions and unique events.

This airy gallery and museum, just a stones’ throw from Coventry Cathedral, celebrates the city’s rich history while remaining a cool, cultural hotspot.
There’s plenty of art on show with galleries created in partnership with national museums. We’re most excited about the arrival of Dippy the Diplodocus from London’s Natural History Museum, which is on loan for the next three years.
If you fancy learning more about Lady Godiva, the blitz, or finding out about your ancestors then there’s the Coventry Archives. Browse the documents, maps and photographs of the city from as far back as the 1500s.
If you fancy getting a bit more hands on there’s loads of workshops for all ages. Try out jewellery-making, screen printing or even samosa making. For the kids there’s crafty events and sensory play.
It’s a great place for a date or to meet friends, but equally as good if you’re looking for something fun and free to do with the kids in the city. If you fancy making a day of it you can grab handmade cakes, sandwiches and snacks at the onsite Alfred’s Cafe too.
