The Warwickshire Gin Company
What these guys don’t know about gin, isn’t worth knowing. We love how they combine delicious flavours with some of Warwickshire’s most exciting history.
Fancy a tipple that has a quirky local back story and tastes bloody gorgeous to boot? The Warwickshire Gin Company is your place. For starters there are some gorgeous flavour combos (hello Ceylon tea and hibiscus!) and an awards cabinet fit to burst – including the Muddy award for Best Local Food and Drink Producer, natch.
The drinks are distilled using the small batch method and with a traditional copper pot, but while the respectful of the traditional process, it doesn’t define them. The Warwickshire Gin Company is tearing up the rule book and wading into uncharted territory in the craft gin distilling world, with its flavours and techniques – and it’s definitely working out.
The inspiration came from local Warwickshire history and the urge to capture a moment in time by blending flavours to reflect the county’s stories. The tales includes Leamington on Parade – the story of when elephants were brought to Leamington from Sri Lanka; The story of Richard Neville – the 16th Earl of Warwick known as The Kingmaker (also the name of the gin); and Peeping Tom, after the story of Lady Godiva in Coventry.
If gin’s not your thing, the Warwickshire Gin Company has also branched out into rum, with The Pugilist inspired by boxer Randolph Turpin, who earned the title ‘The Leamington Licker’.
Bottles and gift sets can be bought from the website, and there’s also tours of the Leamington-based distillery every Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
