If you’re a new or expectant mum then chances are you haven’t got too much time to focus on you. Yoga Body works to change that with its pregnancy and postnatal classes.
It was founded by Sarah who trained as a yoga teacher before having a baby during the pandemic. She said yoga and meditation helped her deal with anxiety and prepare for labour and birth, and wanted to pass on those skills to others. She is also currently training as a hypnobirthing instructor, so get in touch if you’re interested in signing up for a course.
She offers a host of yoga classes in Sutton Coldfield, including pregnancy yoga which helps release aches and pains, improves sleep and promotes relaxation. In the sessions Sarah also teaches breathing techniques and positions for labour and helps unite local, like-minded mums-to-be.
If you’re a new mum there’s 60 minute ‘Just for Mum’ postnatal sessions which focus on grounding, quietening the mind and helping to reconnect.
For those who can’t bear to be separated from their little one check out the ‘Mum & Little One Yoga’ with positions to build strength and ease tension, along with promoting relaxation. Classes might not be as quiet as the mum-only sessions, but you can be sure it will be supportive with lots of people in the same boat! And if you’re not keen on leaving the house to attend a class there’s virtual ‘Happy Mum’s Clubs’ too for mums, grandmothers, mums-to-be, step-mums, foster mums and everything in between for yoga, breath work and meditation.
And for sessions you can do with your partner, how about a couple’s hypnobirthing retreat? The three-day break includes hypnobirthing course, relaxation sessions and all while stopping in a luxury farmhouse with meals and a romantic picnic prepared by the in-house chef. Sounds ideal, right!
