This gorgeous 4*country hotel has launched a new takeaway Afternoon Tea specially made by their super-talented chefs. If there’s one thing nearly every mum enjoys, it’s a cuppa. While it remains closed during lockdown, advance book a Mother’s Day Classic Afternoon Tea for Two in the stunning surrounds of Warwick Castle ahead of time for £39.90, or upgrade with Prosecco for £47.90.

On the day of your future booking, head to the Conservatory overlooking the Peacock Garden and rolling Pageant Field taking in the topiary, grand central fountain and peacocks. The three tiers of classic delicacies include scones with jam and cream, finger sandwiches and cakes. Choose from 10 different blends of loose-leaf tea.

Coombe Abbey, Binley

The D-Day Darlings have been drafted in for a Mother’s Day Afternoon Tea to perform a live online video stream. On Sun Mar14, a trio of vocalists from the group will be performing songs from the 1930s and 1940s while mums will be able to watch from the comfort of their own homes and indulge in a takeaway afternoon tea.

Hilltop Farm, Hunningham Hill, near Leamington Spa

Things to do with the kids

Mother’s Day live ‘LAMBCAM’, Moreton Morrell College

Moreton Morrell College’s popular Lambing weekend will be virtual again in 2021. Animal lovers will be able to discover all about the whole process of lambing at Nethermorton Farm on the college campus in the Warwickshire countryside. LAMBCAM will be back too, with a Facebook Live stream of lambs being born between 10am and 3pm on March 13 & 14. Plus, there’ll be a live Q&A with farmers Henry and Jack from 2pm to 3pm on Mother’s Day – Sun Mar 14. Both these live video streams will be featured on the college’s Facebook page.

Compton Verney

If the weather’s not too blustery and wet this weekend, local families can take a rejuvenating spring stroll through the 120 acre grounds of Compton Verney this Mother’s Day with outdoor refreshments available from the Horse box. Alternatively if your mum’s an art lover you could treat her to a year-long Access All Areas membership gift voucher from £37. Admission for walks must be pre-booked online.

British Motor Museum, Gaydon

To mark Women’s History Month the museum has created some online activities inspired by women who influenced the motor industry. There’s also a Mother’s Day card for kids to download and decorate.

Shakespeare Distillery

Virtual cocktail masterclass, anyone?

The Stratford-upon-Avon distillery has a number of virtual events for people to take part in, including: ‘Mother’s (Day) Ruin’ – a live Virtual Gin Tasting event on Sun Mar 14, 4pm-5pm, on Zoom. Groups of 8+ can book either a Virtual Home Gin Tasting or Virtual Cocktail Masterclass on a date/time to suit. Both interactive experiences include a one hour Zoom call with Home Gin Tasting/Cocktail Kits sent to the participants beforehand. At Home Cocktail Kits are also available which come with ingredients to make two cocktails, a link to a pre-recorded video by mixologist Sam, and a gift card redeemable in the shop.
