Open season! What’s re-opening in Warwickshire?

Support local! Shops have been given the go-ahead and cafés are reopening too, as well as parks and gardens. Here's the lowdown for Cov & Warwickshire.

Slowly but surely, the high street is coming back to life.  Go give these newly opening local indie shops, pub/restaurants and cafes a boost. Any other good ones we’ve missed off let us know and we’ll add them pronto.


The Bower House, Shipston-on-Stour – this gorgeous independent restaurant with rooms is open for ordering, collection and delivery to your doorstep (Wed-Sat, 12 – 7pm; Sun, 12-2pm). Bumbles Coffee House & zero waste store, Studley – a newly designed online click & collect and takeaway service is in place (Wed-Fri) at this funky, eco-friendly cafe with takeaways only on Sat. Enjoy fresh coffee, Beki’s Brownies and freshly squeezed orange juice to order. Check out their latest goodies on insta & FB.

Blue Basil Gourmet Brownies, Leamington Spa – Order a box of home-made brownies in a variety of flavours including new Rocky rRad and Caramel and Pecan. Stock is replenished daily for delivery throughout the UK from £19.50 for 10-12 rich slices. A Great Taste Award winner and featured in Vogue Hot List.

Belgrade Theatre, Coventry has launched a new takeaway service. Food and drink is now available to buy from a bar set up at the front of the building complete with social distancing markers and a hand-sanitising station, plus 25% discount for all NHS staff.

The Dough House, Stratford-upon-Avon – Currently unable to run their home cooking and baking experiences, however artisan, handmade, homemade, fresh and organic delicacies are available for local delivery including afternoon tea for one (£28), mixed scone box (£36), gourmet sandwich box (£48) and a sourdough bread making kit (£27). *Minimum spend for delivery is £50 in Stratford and £60 for other towns. The Little Cocktail bar – home cocktail boxes delivered to your door from June 16 if you live in Leamington and Warwick

Harringtons-on-the-Hill, Kenilworth – open from 10am to 4pm. Call & Collect from the menu or just pass by for a takeaway.

Caking and Baking, Leamington Spa – a whole range of fabulous lockdown treats from £5 each delivered to your door.

Mashed Swedes, Leamington Spa – order online from this cute little cafe for takeaway breakfasts, milkshakes, Sunday roasts and hot drinks.

Coffee Architects, – Sat June 13 sees the opening of their Kitchen Door pop-up with coffee, cakes from Fanny’s Fancies and more via The Neighbourhood, 44 Warwick Street, Leamington Spa..


Slurp Wines, in Leamington and Banbury, has given a whole new meaning to drink driving (don’t worry, it’s totally safe!) with the genius idea of a drive-thru wine shop at Banbury, available now.

Zero Store, Leamington Spa – plastic free products for click & collect (2-4pm, Wed – Sat) or local delivery (Fri, Leamington & Warwick). Only one person in the shop at a time.

Green Bean Warwick, 62 Smith St, Warwick – sustainable community shop selling fresh veg, food and household products.

Down-to-Earth, Earlsdon, Coventry – organic wholefoods, fairly traded goods and lots of locally sourced produce. Open Tues – Sat, 10am – 4pm.

Muddy award-winner Carrie Twining’s indie business remains open. The Warwickshire mum-of-two makes homemade natural soy candles and wax melts – perfect gifts and self-gifting as seen in Tatler, Glamour & Red. A new bath and body range Gone to Hawaii is proving popular in lockdown with it’s beautiful blend of tropical fruit, creamy coconut and sea salt. Available in Soap Bar, Bath Ball. Body Polish and Mini Bath Ball.

The Baby Barn Pram and Nursery Centre, Marton, nr Rugby – the scenic rural showroom in a converted barn may be closed but you can place an order online and call if you have a question about your current order.

Kitty’s Vintage Vault – Local dealer specialising in all things vintage – kitchenalia, glassware, china and small collectables.

Tara Osborne Jewellery, Stratford-upon-Avon

Muddy award-winning Warwickshire jewellery maker Tara has created these hand-knotted thread friendship bracelets, £26 each with 33% of each sale going to NHS charities. Her online shop is still open and she’s sending orders. 

Pudtea, Leamington Spa – artisan tea blends inspired by favourite desserts, from blueberry cheesecake to Eton mess (£2,25each). Gift boxes from £10.79 (with 10% discount included).

Fargo Village, Coventry – many businesses will be re-opening on Thur June 18 – 20, 11am – 4pm with social distancing and safety measures in place.

Green and Wild Flowers, Warwick – this fab florist shop will be opening its doors on June 16 with restrictions for social distancing – before then any enquiries for special orders can be emailed.

Henley Vintage – Vintage & Designer Furniture, Clothing, Books, Artwork & Collectables. Reopens June 15.

Sass, Rugby – this Independent fashion boutique reopens on June 15.


If you’ve vowed never to go back to piling your supermarket trolley sky high, let us help you keep your promise with our pick of the best farm shops:

Hillers, Alcester – fully stocked farm shop open Mon-Fri 8am-5pm, Sat 8am – 5pm and Sun 8am – 4pm, one person per household and 2m apart. If you are eligible for their collection service (aged 70+ or self-isolating due to medical risk), please call on 01789 773057 Mon -Sat.

Becketts Farm Shop – farm shop open with safety measures in place Mon-Sat, 7.30am – 5pm; Sun 10am – 4pm with sandwich counter open until 3.30pm.

Hilltop Farm – the farm shop farm shop remains fully stocked and open 7 days a week. In addition, there’s tasty takeouts’ with a wood fired pizza take away this weekend (Fri June 5 and Sat June 6) and a Father’s Day ‘cheese and briskets’ drive through (Sun June 21). The Farm, Snitterfield, Stratford-upon-Avon – open Mon – Sat 7am – 3pm and Sun 10am – 3pm. Priority shopping for the NHS & Key Workers from 7am – 8am, High Risk & Most Vulnerable from 8am – 10am. Takeaway coffee available daily from cafe Nourish. Every Sun you’ll be able to pre-order and collect Sunday lunch between 12 noon & 4pm.

Hunscote Farm Shop and nursery, Wellesbourne – you can order from the farm shop before 3pm and collect the next day. Cottage plants also available to collect.

Oakes Farm Shop, Balsall Common – The Farm Shop, Butchery and Delicatessen remain open, Mon – Sat

Talton Mill, Newbold on Stour – Butchery open on a Fri and Sat 9am – 2pm for home-reared meat, homemade pies, tarts and ready meals.

Onley Grounds Farm Shop & butchery, Willoughby, Rugby – the farm shop is open and delivery boxes available.

Lower Clopton Farm Shop, Upper Quinton, Stratford-upon-Avon – Pick your own strawberries, 10am- 3pm daily – only 2 people from a household. Farm shop open with social distancing in place.

Malt Kiln Farm Shop, Stretton-under-Fosse, nr Rugby – freshly-grown  strawberries are on sale in the farm shop with the pick your own option open in the last week of June. The farm shop is open Mon – Sat 10am to 6pm and Sun 10am – 4pm with numbers entering the shop limited. Phone click and collect available for local elderly customers and those with underlying health conditions.


Compton Verney – the historic 120-acre Lancelot ‘Capability’ Brown designed parklands opened on Tues June 2 initially to members, local pass holders and one-off grounds pass holders. Visitors of no more than six are welcome and must maintain social distancing at all times. Certain areas of the park will be closed in accordance with guidelines, including the play area, sand pits and bird hide.

The National Trust, Warwickshire is opening a number of gardens and parkland locally through advance bookings at a reduced capacity to ensure the safety of visitors and staff from Mon June 8 onwards. They include Baddesley Clinton, Charlecote Park and Coughton Court. Tickets will be released every Friday.

Warwick Castle Great news for locals looking for a day out on their doorstep as the castle will reopen its grounds this weekend. The first guests to be welcomed back will be Merlin Pass holders and prebooked tickets will be available from Mon June 8.

National Garden Schemes in the Midlands are re-opening on a strictly pre-booked basis.
