<p>Fun fact: the Royal Town of Sutton Coldfield is one of the leafiest places to live in the UK, with more than half of the town&#8217;s total land area being green – the other half is littered with Premiership footballers&#8217; swanky cars! We love <a href="https://www.thefouroaks-royalsuttoncoldfield.co.uk">The Four Oaks</a> just next to the park, with its gorgeous outdoor terrace, boho interiors and delicious menu, and for a special occasion check out the historic <a href="https://www.handpickedhotels.co.uk/newhall/eat-drink-new-hall">New Hall Hotel</a> serving up modern British food. Need a caffeine fix? <a href="https://underpressureespresso.co.uk/">Under Pressure Espresso</a> will see you right – grab your takeaway latte and head to nearby <a href="https://www.silvertreebakery.co.uk">Silver Tree Bakery</a> for freshly-baked goods in a fairy-lit cabin. For dinner dates, <a href="https://www.pizzabygoli.co.uk/">Pizza by Goli </a>has been serving up Italian goodness for over 30 years – which might explain why it&#8217;s always packed out with locals. If you can&#8217;t get a seat, the meze at Greek restaurant <a href="https://www.eleonrestaurant.co.uk/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Eleon</a> is killer, while sushi fans should hotfoot it to <a href="https://www.sushido.co.uk/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">SUSHIDO</a>. </p>

<p>There are three main areas for shopping which should cover all bases: the central <a href="https://www.gracechurchcentre.com/shopping/">Gracechurch Centre</a> and <a href="https://www.princessaliceretailpark.co.uk/">Princess Alice Retail Park</a> for big names, and <a href="https://www.mitchellsshopping.com/contact.php">Mitchells </a>for indies. You can’t beat buying fresh meat and veggies, and the<a href="https://www.chasefarmshop.co.uk/shop"> Chase Farm Shop</a> has been serving the community for centuries. It is now a family run business and sells award-winning meats at the on-site butchers, and you can pick up your sides at the Farm Shop; then grab a much-needed cuppa in the café.  </p>

<p>Of course, the big pull of Sutton is the Park, which is a <a href="https://www.birmingham.gov.uk/info/20089/parks/405/sutton_park" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">National Nature Reserve</a>, are the two children&#8217;s playgrounds, donkey sanctuary, sailing and canoe clubs, fishing, and refreshments. Also nearby is <a href="https://countryparks.warwickshire.gov.uk/kingsburywaterpark" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Kingsbury Water Park</a>, which is made up of a whopping 15 lakes over 600 acres. Head there for excellent dog walks, as well as sailing, jet bikes, horse riding, a miniature railway, and <a href="https://www.broomeycroftfarm.co.uk" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Broomey Croft Children&#8217;s Farm</a>. There are also more golf courses nearby than you can shake an argyle vest at: try <a href="http://www.boldmeregolfclub.co.uk" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Boldmere Golf Club</a>, <a href="https://www.littleastongolf.co.uk" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Little Aston Golf Club</a>, <a href="https://www.astonwoodgolfclub.co.uk" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Aston Wood Golf Club</a>, and <a href="https://www.leamarstonhotel.co.uk/golf/marston-lakes-golf-course/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Marston Lakes Golf Course</a>.  </p>



<p>Good news for parents (or bad, depending on your predisposition for rollercoasters): theme park <a href="https://www.draytonmanor.co.uk/">Drayton Manor</a> is just a 20 min drive away, which means you&#8217;re a hop and a jump from over a hundred rides and attractions including a Vikings Area, Adventure Cove and Europe’s only Thomas Land &#8211; as well as a 15-acre zoo. </p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-culture">CULTURE</h2>



<p>Sutton has a big artsy scene, so you needn&#8217;t make the trip into the city centre to get your fill (although you&#8217;re only around a 30 min drive away). <a href="http://www.suttonartstheatre.co.uk" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Sutton Arts Theatre</a> has brilliant shows all year round, as well as social and fundraising events, while <a href="https://highburytheatre.co.uk" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Highbury Theatre</a> is home to the Highbury Players and their small but perfectly formed productions. </p>

<p>Depending on your location and traffic, you&#8217;re anywhere from 18 to 40 min drive out of central Birmingham, although there are hourly trains that&#8217;ll get you to New Street in 20 mins. It&#8217;ll take you about 3.5 hrs to get into London by train, or you can hop in the car &#8211; thanks to easy access to the motorway network through the M6 and M42, you can get to the capital in 2hrs 20 mins – if you&#8217;re lucky.  </p>
