Fresh, mainly local produce is available at the popular <a href="https://www.instagram.com/kingsheathfmkt/?hl=en">farmers&#8217; market</a> held in the Village Square on the first Saturday of each month and an <a href="https://www.instagram.com/kingsheathartisan/?hl=en-gb">artisan market</a> on the second Sunday of each month. If you&#8217;ve got a sweet tooth you&#8217;re going to want to visit confectionery store <a href="https://professorwillys.co.uk">Professor Willy&#8217;s</a>.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">NEARBY ATTRACTIONS</h2>



<p>Go for a walk around <a href="https://www.birmingham.gov.uk/directory_record/9119/highbury_park">Highbury Park</a>, which stands in the shadow of Highbury Hall, the former residence of politician Joseph Chamberlain. There&#8217;s also <a href="https://www.birmingham.gov.uk/info/20089/parks/1679/kings_heath_park">Kings Heath Park</a> which has a lovely tearoom for coffee and cake. Other outdoor gems include&nbsp;<a href="https://www.birmingham.gov.uk/moseleybog" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Moseley Bog</a>, which was the childhood playground of JRR Tolkien, who lived nearby and used it as inspiration for the ancient forests in&nbsp;<em>The Hobbit</em>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<em>The Lord of The Rings</em>, while&nbsp;<a href="https://www.birminghammuseums.org.uk/sarehole-mill" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Sarehole Mill</a>&nbsp;museum was said to be in the inspiration for The Shire. Within walking distance is the popular&nbsp;<a href="http://www.cannonhillpark.co.uk/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Cannon Hill Park</a>, which has everything from boat hire on the River Rea to tennis courts, train rides, playgrounds, mini golf and the Garden Tea Rooms – there’s even an annual tulip festival.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Kings Heath is a veritable melting pot of culture, with live music venue <a href="https://hareandhoundskingsheath.co.uk">The Hare and Hounds</a> at its centre. It plays host to some awesome live bands from Idles to Bonobo. The circus is always in town at <a href="https://www.circusmash.co.uk">CircusMash</a> &#8211; training classes in circus workshops and community shows. The Midland Arts Centre (aka MAC) in Cannon Hill Park is the local destination for theatre, live music and entertainment, and there’s also a monthly <a href="https://moseleycdt.com/moseley-arts-market/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Arts Market</a> to showcase local talent. Otherwise, you’re only a hop, skip and jump from all the theatre, art and more that Birmingham city centre has to offer.</p>

<p>Depending on where you lay your hat, you’re anywhere from 12 to 28 mins’ drive from the centre of Birmingham, although the many frequent buses mean you’re just as well hopping onto public transport. You’re 8 mins from Small Heath train station, which will whizz you into Brum in 7 mins, or to London Euston in 2hrs.</p>
