<p>This third-generation family farm has an 80-year history in Wythall with the Beckett family still farming more than 1,000 acres of cereals. The shop is huge &#8211; set in a modern brick barn-style shopping outlet which contains its own farm shop, bakery, butchery, deli, greengrocers, coffee shop, takeaway food counter and restaurant. Don&#8217;t forget to head outside in summer too and take a walk through the wildflower meadow and sunflower fields. Talk about all singing, all dancing!</p>

<p>If it&#8217;s fruit and veg you&#8217;re after then you&#8217;re spoilt for choice. Baskets brimming with seasonal options and many of them local from producers across the Midlands. Eggs and potatoes are local too. After stocking up on all those virtuous greens head to the bakery (there&#8217;s no way you&#8217;re going to get past it without a stop &#8211; it smells and looks amazing.) Bakers use flour milled just over the border in the Cotswolds to make 12 different types of bread on site and 60 types of cakes from Danish pastries to Oreo cupcakes. I grabbed a box full of treats including a cornflake cake (my kryptonite), cupcake, lemon and blueberry muffin and a brownie. Honestly, if I could just stuff my face with one Becketts Farm cupcake a day, I&#8217;d be a happy lady. </p>

<p>The meat and deli counter is seriously impressive. The kind of place where you&#8217;ll go to grab two steaks and end up with enough for the week. Think dry cured, lightly smoked back bacon, speciality sausages from pork and black pudding to Welsh Dragon with chilli, alongside the best of British meat all carefully sourced from trusted suppliers. On the cheese counter there&#8217;s more than 50 local and international options including one of Worcestershire’s top producers, <a href="https://croomecuisine.com/">Croome Cuisine</a>. </p>

<p>There&#8217;s plenty of store cupboard ingredients like fancy oils, jams, local curry sauces and chutneys, and even a pet section so Fido doesn&#8217;t miss out. Keep your eyes peeled for Becketts Farm honey too &#8211; it&#8217;s produced under two miles away in Earlswood and it flies off the shelves.</p>

<p>Now you&#8217;ve got enough food to host a (very big) dinner party then you&#8217;re gonna need some drinks. And there&#8217;s plenty of local choice here &#8211; from beers and wines to spirits. We love <a href="https://www.hoganscider.co.uk">Hogan&#8217;s Cider</a> from Alcester, Warwickshire based <a href="https://whbrewery.co.uk" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Windmill Hill</a> and Worcs based <a href="https://brew61.co.uk" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Brew61</a> if you&#8217;re looking for lager or IPA and wines from the <a href="https://www.halfpennygreen.co.uk">Halfpenny Green</a> estate in Bobbington, Staffordshire.  I stocked up on some <a href="https://www.buzzards-valley.co.uk">Buzzards Valley</a> rose and white wine, after an impromptu tasting session &#8211; and I&#8217;m not going to argue about drinking wine at 11am on a Thursday. Grab a bottle if you get chance, it&#8217;s a really small vineyard with everything from bottling to labelling done by hand.</p>



<p>The shop also contains a sandwich counter (which was hugely popular) and a hot sandwich area too &#8211; I hear the pork and stuffing is especially good. </p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-scoff-amp-quaff">SCOFF &amp; QUAFF</h2>

<p>The menu has recently had a bit of an overhaul so I was spoilt for choice with what to order. Think everything from vegan meatball subs to smashed avo on toast (both using bread handmade in the bakery) and my order &#8211; the Irish breakfast. It had all the usual, delicious suspects like thick-cut rashers of bacon, sausages, free-range eggs cooked how you like &#8211; poached for me please! &#8211; Heinz baked beans, a grilled tomato and some absolutely divine button mushrooms, cooked in butter and probably my favourite part of the breakfast. It also came with the Irish staple of white pudding and black pudding, soda bread and a delicious potato scone just perfect for mopping up at the end of the meal. </p>

<p>My date for the day (mum!) went with the brekkie Becketts is most famed for, The Old Faithful, and wasn&#8217;t disappointed. Stacked high with fried potatoes, button mushrooms, grilled tomatoes, beans, rashers of bacon, sausages and eggs cooked to order, a hash brown, fried bread and toast from the bakery.</p>

<p>I say this every time I go but breakfasts here are those types where you keep eating but the plate never seems to get any less full. It&#8217;s one of my favourite places to pop by for food, everything is always fresh and delicious. What I particularly love about Becketts Farm is that brekkie is served all day Monday to Saturday, and this is a goodie whether it&#8217;s 9am or 4pm.</p>

<p>In summer there&#8217;s the sunflower field, meet the farm animals during easter and for Halloween there&#8217;s the ever-popular pumpkin patch. A perfect day out with the kids &#8211; tire them out then swing by the restaurant for food &#8211; and the promise of a bakery cake for pud. </p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-out-amp-about">OUT &amp; ABOUT</h2>



<p>It&#8217;s conveniently located for both Warwickshire and the West Midlands and situated just off main road, the A435. That&#8217;s 1 mile north of Junction 3 of the M42 and there&#8217;s free parking for up to 300 cars too, so don&#8217;t panic about not finding a space. </p>

<p>Nearby there&#8217;s National Trust property <a href="https://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/packwood-house">Packwood House</a> and <a href="https://canalrivertrust.org.uk/places-to-visit/earlswood-lakes">Earlswood Lakes</a> for a lovely stroll. If getting back to nature is your thing then head 15 minutes in the other directionto the&nbsp;<a href="https://www.birmingham.gov.uk/info/20089/parks/406/lickey_hills_country_park">Lickey Hills Country Park</a>&nbsp;in Rednal which covers an impressive 524 acres. For adventurous little and big ones there&#8217;s outdoor activity centre <a href="https://www.ackers-adventure.co.uk">Ackers Adventure</a> with its dry ski slope and toboggan run, climbing walls and archery ranges. Check out <a href="https://umbersladeadventure.com">Umberslade Adventure</a> too with its low ropes courses, commando course, zip line and tree climbing sessions. </p>



<p><a href="https://www.beckettsfarm.co.uk/">Becketts Farm</a> is a 15 minute drive to Stratford-upon-Avon with <a href="https://www.shakespeare.org.uk">Shakespeare’s family homes</a> to explore, the&nbsp;<a href="https://www.rsc.org.uk">Royal Shakespeare Theatre</a>, boating on the river and <a href="https://www.butterflyfarm.co.uk/attraction/">Stratford Butterfly Farm</a>.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-the-muddy-verdict">THE MUDDY VERDICT</h2>

<p><strong>Good for:</strong>&nbsp; A morning or afternoon out: eat, browse and shop local – with virtually no food miles.&nbsp;A good place to eat with younger children as the restaurant is roomy, friendly and unpretentious with an excellent value children&#8217;s menu.</p>



<p><strong>Not for: </strong>It may not be as trendy or in such pretty surroundings as say Gloucestershire&#8217;s Daylesford Organic Farm, but it has a similar ethos championing local produce from across the Midlands and the wider UK.</p>



<p><strong>The damage: </strong>Really good value. Breakfasts come in between £6 and £15 while lunch is around the £15 mark too with options like Ploughman&#8217;s, ultimate minute steak ciabatta and plenty of vegan-friendly choice too. The afternoon teas are a real treat too if that&#8217;s your jam (geddit? Sorry) and come in at two for £30 or £40 with fizz &#8211; would be rude not to. </p>
