We’re not short of places to grab a bite in south Warwickshire, but I’ve found somewhere super special that’s perfect for any occasions – a quick meal, family gathering, date night or drinks with the girls.

Meet The White Lion, just outside the centre in Radford Semele (right after the turning to Southam, you know the one).

It’s recently undergone a huge revamp and is now under ownership of Peach Pubs – the brains behind The High Field in Edgbaston, The Rose and Crown in Warwick and a host of other awesome local joints.

Think low-hanging rattan lights, cosy seating, exposed wood and exposed fires inside. Step through the huge sliding glass doors and you’ll find the pub garden of dreams, with a similar boho vibe, covered seating area and swathes of grass for the kids and dogs to play.

The kitchen is headed up by Stefan Elliot, who has heaps of experience after spending eight years running kitchens in Spain and previously working at The Star and Garter and Bayley Lane in Cov. He’s passionate about great quality, seasonal ingredients which sees fish brought daily from Kingfisher in Birmingham, meat from local butcher Aubrey Allen and the specials board constantly changing with what he’s chosen. They’re serving up lunch through to dinner and breakfast on weekends. Of course there’s a pretty delicious Sunday roast too.

If vino is your tipple of choice there’s a healthy wine list, along with a great cocktail menu. The bar is stocked with load of local options too with drinks from Muddy award-winning Rugby Distillery, Cotswolds Distillery, Napton Cidery and Purity ale among those available.

But this place isn’t just about the food and drink (though definitely go if you’re looking for somewhere Muddy-recommended!) There’s heaps going on with themed nights, coffee mornings and pub walks. There’s even yoga in the garden when the sun’s out. Regulars love the chippy tea (wrapped in real newspaper – the Financial Times if you fancy a read) and there’s themed nights throughout the year.
