Tucked into rolling Warwickshire countryside, Hill Farm’s wild wellness setup is exactly what you want it to be: a wood-fired sauna overlooking a spring-fed swimming pond, with nothing but fields, birdsong and fresh air all around. You can book it privately (ideal for a low-key group hang, with space for up to six), or dip into one of their small, sociable sessions — think&nbsp;<em>Slow Sundays</em>&nbsp;and cosy winter warmers, with numbers capped at just four so it never feels busy. Staying overnight? Even better — guests get access included, which makes the whole experience feel even more indulgent. And if you’re stuck for presents, their vouchers are basically gifting someone a deep exhale. Quietly luxurious and properly restorative, this is the kind of place you leave plotting your return before you’ve even dried off.</p>

<p>Set around a lake in the Worcestershire countryside, Watersedge is less a single experience and more a full outdoor wellness playground — built around the idea of slowing down, switching off and reconnecting with nature. Founded by sisters, Emily and Sophy, there’s a warm, thoughtful feel to the whole place that goes beyond just the setting. You can keep things simple with a swim and sauna, or lean into the full experience with hot tubs, cold plunges and their fire and ice therapy — the addictive hot–cold ritual that leaves you feeling equal parts energised and smug. There’s also a rotating mix of aerial yoga, sound baths and breathwork if you’re in the mood to try something new. It’s got a gently social feel — come with friends or arrive solo and settle in — with plenty of space to pause between sessions, whether that’s lakeside lounging, hammock time or a quick reset in the herb garden. </p>

<p>Bringing a slice of Scandinavian-style wellness to the West Midlands — with a distinctly down-to-earth twist — Ilo Sauna is all about good heat, good company and feeling better when you leave than when you arrived. Run by couple Soph and Jack (and named after the Finnish word for “joy”), it’s a small but thoughtfully done setup built around a wood-fired sauna — cleverly housed in a converted horsebox — set within the relaxed surroundings of Wassell Grove. Sessions are short, sociable and refreshingly un-intimidating, with small shared groups and a come-as-you-are feel that makes it just as appealing for first-timers as seasoned sauna fans. Expect plenty of chat, a proper sweat and a quick cool-off between rounds.</p>

<p>If you like your wellness a little less polished and a bit more adventurous, Wild Sauna Club is the one to know. This roaming setup pops up at lakes, campsites and countryside spots across the Midlands, bringing wood-fired heat to wherever it lands. At the heart of it is a mobile sauna (often a cleverly converted horsebox), paired with cold plunge options — whether that’s a lake, a plunge bath or whatever the setting allows — so you can fully lean into the hot–cold ritual. Sessions are usually short and bookable, with the option to go private or join a group. What really sets it apart is the atmosphere. It’s friendly, unfiltered and genuinely community-driven — expect easy chats, shared dips and that slightly addictive post-sauna glow. You can even hire their sauna tents to recreate the whole thing at home if you’re feeling committed.</p>

<p>A sauna on the banks of the river at the nature haven of Whichford Mill, deep in the Cotswold countryside — and exactly the sort of place you find yourself debating whether to tell people about. It’s a beautifully made, wood-fired Finnish-style sauna right by the water, with a ladder down into the river for that sharp, slightly addictive cold dip. Small group sizes keep it feeling calm rather than crowded, and you quickly fall into that rhythm of heat, plunge, repeat. Recently named Best UK Nature Sauna 2025 by the British Sauna Society, it somehow still feels low-key — more word-of-mouth gem than big-name destination. There’s a rustic, back-to-basics charm to it too, with thoughtful touches like herbal teas quietly woven in. The kind of place you go for a couple of hours and end up staying longer than planned, this is as good as it gets if you’re after something simple, atmospheric and properly immersive.</p>

<p>If you know, you know — and if you don’t, this is your heads-up. Tucked away in rewilded Worcestershire countryside, Escape to the Lake is the kind of place that makes you feel instantly smug for having discovered it. There’s a spring-fed lake for swimming and a wood-fired sauna right on the edge, so you can fully commit to the hot–cold thing — in, out, warm up, back in again, wondering why you don’t do this every weekend. No spa rules, no faff — just a great setup and that addictive rhythm you slip into almost instantly. Dip, warm up, repeat, possibly lose track of time. Keep to yourself or fall into conversation — either way works. Slightly under-the-radar and very easy to get obsessed with, this is one you’ll end up recommending (selectively).</p>

<p>If some of the wilder spots feel a bit&nbsp;<em>commitment-heavy</em>, this is a good place to start. Just outside Coventry, The Lakes at Lavender Hall offers the whole sauna-and-swim setup, but with a slightly softer landing. There’s open water swimming in the lake and a sauna right by the water, so you still get that satisfying hot–cold hit — just without quite as much bracing yourself beforehand. It’s all nicely set up and easy to navigate, which makes it ideal if you’re new to the whole thing or bringing someone along who needs a gentle introduction. You can keep it simple or stretch it out into more of a day, with things like paddleboarding or yoga on offer, plus a lakeside café that makes it very easy to linger longer than planned. Less wild, more easeful, but no less addictive for it, this is one to have up your sleeve when you want the benefits without quite going full feral.</p>
