<p>Wimbledon season is in full swing and we&#8217;re here for it. But who needs to hoof it down to South West London when the world’s first lawn tennis club was founded right here in Leamington Spa &#8211; 150 years ago, no less? Yep, it all started at the <a href="https://www.lltsc.co.uk/membership-prices/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Leamington Lawn Tennis Club </a>. You&#8217;ll need to be a member to play there (£34.50 a month), but if commitment ain&#8217;t your thing, there are plenty of other equally gorgeous places to perfect your backhand nearby. You can <a href="https://www.warwickdc.gov.uk/info/20244/outdoor_sports/209/tennis_courts" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">hire</a> a tennis court at Beauchamp Avenue for less than a tenner (just £7), then rewards all that exertion with lunch at&nbsp;<a href="https://www.theterrace.uk/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">The Terrace</a>&nbsp;overlooking the River Leam. Or if you fancy mixing things up, there are also pay-and-play courts in Victoria Park and just down the road at St Nicholas Park in Warwick. </p>

<p>You can play for free (yep, really), at parks across Solihull. Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council has partnered with the Lawn Tennis Association to make tennis more accessible, meaning anyone can now pick up a racket at Bentley Heath, Knowle, Malvern, Shirley and Elmdon parks &#8211; all of them are newly resurfaced so you just need to <a href="https://clubspark.lta.org.uk/SolihullParksTennis" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">book online</a> and you&#8217;re good to go. </p>

<p>This place more than tickles our pickle! A true racquet sports haven, it offers padel, pickleball, badminton, tennis, squash, racketball and table-tennis all under one roof. There are two courts and while you need to become a member to play regularly, non-members can join Wednesday sessions for just £6. There&#8217;s also coaching on offer, plus a new daytime-only membership if you&#8217;re looking to squeeze in a game while everyone else is at work.
