<p>Hidden inside Cov&#8217;s landmark shimmering, blue, futuristic rotunda waterpark is a little slice of paradise in <a href="https://manaspa.co.uk">Mana Spa</a>. It&#8217;s a sanctuary in the city&#8217;s bustling town centre, inspired by Maori culture, with &#8216;mana&#8217; representing a source of healing and spiritual energy.</p>



<p>The exterior of the stunning circular building is brick and glass and wrapped with what appears to be a blue swirling ribbon to reflect Coventry’s weaving past. There&#8217;s a little entrance at the back where you access the spa, and if I didn&#8217;t know I was at a waterpark I wouldn&#8217;t have known &#8211; no screaming kids while you&#8217;re unwinding here, amen to that.</p>

<p>The spa uses only luxe brand Elemis for its products – whether it’s a facial, hot stone massage or nourishing body wrap. If you’re feeling like you need a bit of a glow-up, you can also book in for a wax, or there’s eyebrow tinting, mani and pedis and you can have your make up done too. A one-stop-shop for all things health, beauty and restoration then.</p>

<p>Outside it&#8217;s a bustling street, but in here it&#8217;s all peace and tranquility. There&#8217;s a bubbling, warm spa pool, aromatherapy room, herbal steam room and sauna along with a luxurious foot spa. There&#8217;s heated beds too so perfect for that mid-spa day nap (just me who always falls asleep?) </p>



<p>Don’t worry about rooting out your flip flops  – cosy slippers, towels and dressing gowns are provided here, which I think is always a lovely touch at a spa and something often overlooked. You don&#8217;t even have to get up for a drink &#8211; order a glass of Prosecco or a smoothie and the team will bring it out to you. There&#8217;s a cafe in The Wave but you&#8217;re there to treat yourself &#8211; so make sure you take advantage of the spa&#8217;s partnership with The Botanist, a plant-filled paradise just around the corner which it has a specially devised menu for lunch and dinner and costs just £15 for a main meal and drink. </p>

<p>The three treatment rooms – Moana, Whenua and Wairere – are named after the Maori words for Ocean, Earth and Waterfall and are all salt lamps, peaceful music and relaxation.&nbsp;You can have a treatment on your own or there&#8217;s couples rooms too. </p>

<p>You&#8217;re spoilt for choice here with treatments for relaxation and beauty. I&#8217;m a sucker for a hot stone massage, so went with my regular. Treatments last between 30 minutes and 75 minutes for a massage and up to 50 minutes for facial. There&#8217;s also massage options for women who are pregnant or those undergoing cancer treatment. </p>



<p>My therapist was really friendly and knowledgeable, and made me feel at ease straight away. I&#8217;m also not one of those who likes to talk during a treatment, it&#8217;s all about soaking it in and trying not to fall asleep. She completely took my lead and didn&#8217;t speak to me until the end when she told me the massage was over &#8211; one thing I didn&#8217;t want to hear!</p>

<p>The stones were soaked in Frangipani oil which smelt divine, and the pressure was perfect &#8211; not too intense but not too light that it feels like you&#8217;re getting no benefit. After it had ended (boo!) my therapist left me with a dressing gown and slippers so I could spend some time enjoying the spa facilities. She also recommended me products to use, but it definitely wasn&#8217;t a hard sell which I feel some spas can do. </p>



<p>Before I headed into the main spa I was offered a glass of water, Prosecco or a smoothie, and told to just let someone know if I needed a refill &#8211; silly question really, just leave me the bottle.</p>

<p>With my belongings firmly put away in a locker (phone too &#8211; yes I felt like I&#8217;d lost an arm), I was free to enjoy the rest of the spa. I went mid-week on a Wednesday and it was so quiet, there was only two other people in there. It&#8217;s all low-lighting, soft chill out music and you instantly get the zen vibe. I started with a bubbly foot spa before heading into the Aromatherapy room which had a heady hit of lavender. The heated spa pool was the real star of the show, it was wonderfully warm and really spacious so you&#8217;re not sitting right next to someone you don&#8217;t know, as can happen in a jacuzzi, never pleasant. Unless it&#8217;s Chris Pratt, then I&#8217;d make an exception. </p>

<p>If a &#8216;proper&#8217; swim is what you&#8217;re after the spa has use of a 25 meter pool for splashing about in. If you&#8217;re brave enough to leave the warm confines of the spa it&#8217;s only through one door, so you can race back into the sauna or steam room as soon as you&#8217;ve dipped your toe in the water. </p>

<p>We all deserve a bit of &#8216;me&#8217; time and it&#8217;s great to have this right on our doorstep in Cov. Go with a friend, your partner, your mum or most relaxing of all &#8211; on your own. Take a book and enjoy a bit of zen. I know I did. </p>
