<p>Not to be confused with Henley-on-Thames, this is one of Warwickshire&#8217;s oldest market towns dating back to the 12th century. The unspoilt high street has more than 150 buildings of historic interest, including the timber-framed <a href="http://www.henleygh.co.uk/">Guild Hall</a>, a community hub. Henley&#8217;s extremely close to Stratford-upon-Avon (8.5 miles), the thriving market town of Alcester (8 miles) and Studley (7 miles). Its central location, avenue of elegant Cotswold stone houses, lively pubs, great schools, and picturesque canals make it an appealing place to live.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-nearby-attractions">NEARBY ATTRACTIONS</h2>



<p><a href="https://www.woottonpark.co.uk/">Wootton Park</a> is a stunning rural setting in nearby Wootton Wawen village for weddings, glamping with hot tubs, wellbeing retreats, horse riding and wake-boarding. Stratford-upon-Avon canal and its towpaths are pretty, peaceful, spots for walks and narrow boat trips with Edstone Aquaduct in Henley being one of the longest cast iron aqueducts in England. </p>



<p>The National Trust&#8217;s beautiful <a href="https://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/lists/warwickshire">heritage properties in Warwickshire</a> include <a href="https://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/charlecote-park">Charlecote Park</a>, a Victorian country house and landscaped deer park that is an easy drive away. Compton Verney Art Gallery and Park, with brilliant bijoux exhibitions is close too. </p>

<p>There&#8217;s <a href="https://www.warwick-castle.com/">Warwick Castle</a> nearby, which has been hosting a load of popular events including its sundown sessions throughout summer with street food gods Digbeth Dining Club. The <a href="https://www.rsc.org.uk/">RSC</a> in Stratford is right on the doorstep too with a host of amazing theatre and top names – <em>Wonka</em> star Mathew Baynton makes his RSC debut in <em>A Midsummer Night&#8217;s Dream</em> and the biggie in 2025 is <em>Hamlet Hail To The Thief</em> which will see Radiohead&#8217;s seminal album fused to the Bard&#8217;s iconic words. In fact, Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke has reworked the band’s music into a deconstructed score that will be performed by live musicians. On a smaller scale, you&#8217;ll also find plenty of cultural and craft fairs taking place in the town, one of the most popular is <a href="https://www.facebook.com/henleymusicfest/">Henley Music Festival</a>, which sees live acts perform at local venues. </p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-health-amp-wellbeing">HEALTH &amp; WELLBEING</h2>



<p>Love your &#8216;me time&#8217; heart raisers, <a href="https://www.theloft-studio.co.uk" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">The Loft Studio</a> runs pilates, yoga and barre classes in a lovely studio on Chapel Street. If you get the bug, you can regular retreats are run abroad too. <a href="https://formandflow.co.uk" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Form and Flow Pilates</a> on Guild Street also offer Reformer pilates. <a href="https://bungeefitness.club">The Bungee Jump Fitness Club</a> is a fun alternative to the gym offering bungee fitness and aerial pilates. Book a wellbeing retreat at nearby&nbsp;<a href="https://woottonparkwellness.co.uk/">Wootton Park Wellness</a>, or there’s traditional Chinese medicine and herbal remedies with&nbsp;<a href="https://www.ljwellness.co.uk/">LJ Wellness</a>.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-community">COMMUNITY</h2>



<p>Earlier this year volunteers opened a new&nbsp;brewery, community space and bar at Henley-in-Arden Railway Station, which had sat empty til the 1990s. There’s a strong community spirit here with Henley Music Festival taking over the town for a weekend of free music, which also attracts hoards of visitors. At Christmas expect to see farm machinery decked out in lights for the annual charity Tractor Run and there’s also the Jack Connolly Memorial Tractor Run in memory of a late resident.&nbsp;</p>

<p><a href="http://henleyicecream.co.uk/">Henley Ice Cream parlour</a>. Not only can you mull over 50 different traditional flavours made on local Midlands farms but tuck into hearty breakfasts, lunches and afternoon teas – all in a gorgeous 16th-century timber building packed with history. The original family ice cream company opened in the 1930s and went on to be voted the best in the UK. It&#8217;s now independently run by a mum and daughter.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-commute">COMMUTE</h2>



<p>It&#8217;s around 2 hrs 30min by rail from Henley train station to London Euston; or the alternative is 1 hr 20 mins from Warwick Parkway to London Marylebone. The fastest driving route is on the M40 and takes just over 2 hrs, traffic dependent.</p>
