Then there’s the Lord Leycester Hospital, a gorgeous slice of medieval courtyard architecture, and the Collegiate Church of St Mary’s – climb its 134ft tower for knockout skyline views. Feeling lucky? Warwick Racecourse is one of the country’s oldest and hosts top-notch jump racing through the season.

Playbox Theatre is brilliant for creative kids of all ages interested in training for theatre, circus and film. There’s also the impressive Bridge House Theatre at Warwick School, home to Orchestra of the Swan and opened by no other than Dame Judi Dench. Bang in the town centre is Market Hall Museum with displays on the geology, natural history and early history of the county.

Warwick Arts Centre in nearly Coventry, based on the University of Warwick campus, has some great performances and is easily accessible – oh and scooped Muddy’s National Award for Best Arts, Culture and Theatre in 2024. Culture vultures also have the brilliant Belgrade Theatre in Coventry and RSC in Stratford-upon-Avon just a few miles up the road.

Compton Verney is an award-winning art gallery housed in a Grade I listed Georgian mansion just outside Warwick. It’s set in 120 acres of stunning Capability Brown parkland – very family-friendly for kids too!
