Centuries ago, a church bell is said to have fallen into Whitnash’s holy well – and gained the power of prophecy. Locals claimed if you dropped a stone in at night, you’d hear it ring by morning: once for yes, twice for no. The mystical bell still lives on in the town’s coat of arms – a small nod to a big local legend.

COMMUTE

It’s three miles to the M40 motorway which links the town to Birmingham and London. The art-deco Leamington Spa railway station is on the line to London Marylebone – a 75 min journey – Birmingham and Oxford (both 35 mins).
