<p>Headed to Brum to visit the German Christmas Market? Then you&#8217;re probably going to want somewhere to escape the crowds when you&#8217;ve had enough gluhwein. Enter Indian street food joint <a href="https://www.mowglistreetfood.com/restaurants/birmingham/">Mowgli</a>, conveniently placed at Grand Central Station so great to grab a bite before you jump on the train home. Muddy checks out it&#8217;s festive feasting menu.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-the-vibe">THE VIBE</h2>



<p>Is jungle themed ever not cool? Think swinging seats and hanging ropes, lit throughout with fairy lights. It&#8217;s fun, but the low mood lighting gives a cosy vibe perfect for escaping the British weather after a stroll around the city. </p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-scoff-amp-quaff">SCOFF &amp; QUAFF</h2>



<p>Throughout December there&#8217;s a festive feasting menu, with meat, veggie and vegan options. For £35 you can expect a glass of fizz (or beer, if that&#8217;s your jam), nibbles, starter, tiffin box and pud. </p>

<p>We started with Prosecco and some of the yoghurt chaat bombs &#8211; crisp bread puffs stuffed full of chickpeas, spiced yoghurt, tamarind and coriander. Food is &#8216;Indian street food style&#8217; so they come out when they&#8217;re ready &#8211; which resulted in our starters and mains all coming at once. I&#8217;m not complaining, it&#8217;s a feasting menu after all! </p>

<p>We loaded our plates with gunpowder chicken &#8211; kind of Indian-style chicken poppers &#8211; which were an absolute triumph, Himalayan cheese toast, and piles of curry from tiffin tins, which are basically street food lunchboxes. Mains are whatever the chef has chosen for that day, and we had a great mix of people-pleasers including daal, chickpea curry, chicken curry, Bombay potato and saag. The curry was flavourful and not too spicy for the chilli haters out there. It could have been a little warmer, but service wasn&#8217;t the quickest so I think it had some time to cool down on the way to our table. I implore you to order a side of the tamarind fries &#8211; you definitely don&#8217;t need more food, but they&#8217;re delicious. </p>



<p>Pud was a chocolate brownie (there was a mango sorbet option too but we weren&#8217;t asked which our preference was). It was chewy on the outside and soft and gooey in the middle, like all good brownies should be. Perfect washed down with a floral, refreshing rose and lychee martini. </p>

<p>Obviously the festive choice is a mooch around the German <a href="https://warks.muddystilettos.co.uk/things-to-do/christmas-markets-warwickshire-west-midlands/">Christmas Market</a>, and a skate around the city <a href="https://warks.muddystilettos.co.uk/things-to-do/ice-skating-warwickshire-west-midlands/">ice skating</a> rink. <a href="https://www.birminghamhippodrome.com/">The Hippodrome</a> and <a href="https://www.atgtickets.com/venues/the-alexandra-theatre-birmingham/">Alexandra</a> theatres are within walking distance if you’re heading to see a show or there’s plenty of classical performances on at <a href="https://bmusic.co.uk/whats-on">The Symphony Hall</a>. </p>

<p>If you&#8217;re looking for somewhere to meet friends with a fun vibe and a menu to please all then this ticks all the boxes. Is it the best curry in Brum? No, but it&#8217;s a good contender, conveniently placed, and the festive feasting menu is an absolute steal. </p>
