Feb Half Term Fun: Indoors & Active

Want to get the kids off their devices but stay indoors to keep out of the cold? As trampolining looks like becoming Britain’s new fitness craze more than 120 Trampoline Parks have sprung up across the UK. Here’s 5 of the best from across Warwickshire and the surrounding areas.

Young adrenaline seekers can also let off steam trying to master a new adventure sport at nearby climbing walls, ice-skating rinks, Tamworth’s Snowdome and indoor skate-parks. We’ve got them covered here:

5 TRAMPOLINE PARKS: 

1. Jump In, Warwick

This has become a very popular venue for children’s birthdays and half-term fun.

Facilities include: 120 trampolines, battle beam, a foam pit, tumble track, basketball, giant Airbag, twist ladder, party rooms and cafe. Events include Toddler Time every weekday, 10am-12pm (£10 for parent & toddler) Freestyle and Gymnastics coaching, Wed 6.30-8pm. Fridays is Teen Night (for 13 – 19-year-olds) with a DJ, 7-10pm (£15 for unlimited jumping) and there’s a family-friendly autism and SEN evening on the last Tue of every month, 6.30pm-8pm.

2. Jump Xtreme, Tamworth

Facilities: 100 interconnecting trampolines, volleyball court, dodgeball court, Xtreme stunt air bag, Slam Dunk lanes, tumble tracks and coffee shop. Xtreme Teen Nights, club night with guest DJ on Fridays, 8-10pm (ages 13 – 17),  £15 for 2 hours.

3. Jump Nation, Walsall, Birmingham

Facilities: 218 trampolines, Dunk Nation Basketball, 3D Dodgeball court, Jump Pipe, Giant Airbag, 3 party rooms, under 6’s soft play area and on-site restaurant Cafe Nation.

Whether your lucky kids need training for a school or family trip to the snow, these two indoor snow slopes are the closest they’ll get to the real thing…

Snowdome, Tamworth

A fab venue, just outside the Warwickshire border in neighbouring Staffordshire, offering half-term ski & snowboarding lessons ranging from a 2-hour group lesson to a 3 hour fast-track or recreational sessions. There’s also Snowplay, 30 mins of Toboganning for 5+ or Tiny Sledging (for ages 3-7); Tubing (Tiny ages 3-7 ; Junior ages 7-13), as well as 90min Flume & Inflatable swimming sessions and ice-skating.

A half-term day ticket tobogganing, flume and inflatable swimming and ice-skating is £18.95 for Juniors.

CLIMBING:

Holiday Camp, Bear Rock Indoor Climbing Centre, Warwick University Sports Centre, Coventry

One of the best indoor climbing facilities in the West Midlands, the Bear Rock Climbing Centre has 11m and 14m high walls and 60 climbing routes.  A Half Term Holiday Camp is running from Mon Feb 20-Fri Feb 24 for ages 8+, £20 per session 9am – 12pm.

A 2-hour children’s club for Beginners, Intermediates and Advanced runs on weekends and costs £44 a month. And from spring 2017, outdoor climbing family days out for Bear Cubs are starting up from April – September. Dates will be announced soon (£49 for Bear Cub members).

Climbing Holiday Courses (9- 16-year-olds), Better Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Centre, Rugby, daily until Fri Feb 24

There’s a 9m high wall featuring 11 protected lines for lead climbing with instructors running great term-time climbing sessions for Little Rockers (4-5 years), Rock Hoppers (6-8 years) and Rock Stars (9-16 years). Taster sessions for ages 9 – 16-year-olds are available daily during Feb half-term between 2 – 3.30pm for £9.75. Rockup, Birmingham

An indoor climbing centre with 26 multi-coloured climbing walls, a café and an indoor soft play area for under 6’s. The climbing tower is 25ft and has more than 700 challenges.

Creation Climbing Centre & Skate Park, Birmingham

One of the largest indoor climbing centres in the UK.  It’s the Midlands primary centre for NICAS (The National Indoor Climbing Award Scheme) and Indoor Caving courses. Cheeky Monkeys is a new weekend club for 4 – 6-year-olds, alongside Crag Rats for 7 – 17-year-olds who wish to take up climbing seriously. Children and teens can follow the NICAS syllabus. This enables each climber the chance to learn every aspect of climbing, from tying a simple knot, to abseiling, and technique.

Creation Sk8 Park is home to 23000sqft of newly refitted ramps, suitable for BMX, Stunt Scooter, Inline blading and Skateboarding. Lessons are available in each as well as taster sessions from £20 per person for 1 hour.
