7 Scent-sational Candles
Here’s our edit of the Muddy favourites.
Being a highly fragrant bunch here at Muddy HQ, we’re obsessed with scented candles. Here’s our edit of the Muddy favourites.
(Top, left) Loving by Bella Freud (£40) This tuberose, amber and sandalwood number has serious mantelpiece appeal thanks to its trademark Bella Freud slogan red glass jar. And Loving is very mum-appropriate, isn’t it?
(Top, right) Jasmin de Beyrouth by Ideo Parfumeurs (£35) A cool new-ish brand whose candles give great ‘throw’ (basically, they smell strong and true). This one turns your living room into a Mediterranean garden at dusk.
(Bottom row, l-r) Iris by The White Company (£26) Best candles on the high street, we reckon. The minimal white (obvs) porcelain means they’ll fit in anywhere in your house and their delicious new collection of florals is inspired by Grasse, the perfume capital of France.
Calla Art Collection by Linari (£50) Is it a work of art or is it a candle? Bit of both. With a groovy Op Art vessel designed by Italian artist Fabio Maria Linari, it has an unusual wooden wick (it crackles pleasingly as it burns) and a zingy grapefruit, peach and black tea scent.
Un Gardenia La Nuit by Frederic Malle (£90) This chic French brand employs top perfume ‘noses’ to create it scents, hence the high price tag – it’s one for hardcore candle nerds. This floral is intense (in a good way) and the vivid orange jar screams spring.
Real Luxury by Neom (£30) We love Neom candles for their expensive spa vibe. A blend of 24 essential oils including lavender, jasmine and Brazilian rosewood, this is perfect to burn while bathing.
Under Milk Wood by Tom Daxon (£55) After something a little bit different? Got a cool mum? Candles don’t come more hipster than Tom Daxon’s line. They’re minimal, unisex and this Dylan Thomas-referencing one mixes sandalwood, amber, musk and suede.
