Looking for a full day out? Head to <a href="https://www.altontowers.com/explore/events/scarefest/">Scarefest</a> at Alton Towers for the ultimate screamathon until 3 Nov. There&#8217;s late night opening and for little ones check out the Halloween shows and costumed characters. The scare mazes for ages 14+ should keep teens more than happy. If that&#8217;s not enough for your thrill seekers then a day out at <a href="https://thewavecoventry.com">The Wave</a> Waterpark in Cov should do it!

Over at&nbsp;<a href="https://hattonworld.com/pumpkin-hollow/">Hatton Country World</a> teens and braver kids can weave through the creepy cabins at Pumpkin Hollow with live actors ready to give them a scare. If that wasn’t terrifying enough there’s the Corn Crypt Maize Maze to work your way through and a drive in cinema too where you can watch everything from&nbsp;Beetlejuice&nbsp;to&nbsp;Hocus Pocus. For younger ones there&#8217;s <a href="http://www.hattonworld.com/adventure-world">Halloween Spooktacular</a> from 26 &#8211; 31 October with trick and treat village, zombie marsh, trailer rides and pumpkin carving. 



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-farm-shops-amp-meet-the-animals">FARM SHOPS &amp; MEET THE ANIMALS</h2>



Over at Becketts Farm in Wythall there&#8217;s the annual <a href="https://www.beckettsfarm.co.uk/special-events/pumpkin-extravaganza/">Pumpkin Extravaganza</a> from 25 Oct &#8211; 1 Nov. Think pumpkin picking, carving, theatre, oh and a pumpkin parade to show off fancy dress. Once you&#8217;ve finished head over to the restaurant for a bite to eat (<a href="https://warks.muddystilettos.co.uk/eat-out/review-becketts-farm-wythall/">here&#8217;s our review</a>). For more farm fun then you&#8217;ll want to visit Leamington-based farm <a href="https://www.hilltopfarmshop.com/pumpkin-picking/">Hilltop Farm Shop</a> for PYO along with carving, witch hat decorating, sensory games and food from Zack&#8217;s bar or the restaurant. 



Over at <a href="https://www.cobbsfarmshops.co.uk/stratford-events/autumn-makers-market-2024">Cobbs Farm Shop</a> in Stratford there’s a makers market and family fun day on 26 Oct. Expect stalls, homemade food, face painting and meeting the farm animals, and if that doesn’t sound like it will tire the kids out then there’s the huge climbing frame to play on. Elsewhere in Stratford there&#8217;s <a href="https://www.farmanimalrescuesanctuary.co.uk/product/ticket-for-halloween-open-day-sunday-27th-october-2024/">Farm Animal Rescue Sanctuary</a>&#8216;s halloween open day on 27 Oct. Meet some of the friendly rescue sheep and pigs (make sure you take them some rich tea biscuits), do a bit of shopping at the stalls and tuck into some treats from the cake stand and bbq.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-workshops">WORKSHOPS</h2>



There’s everything from acting workshops to family sessions in Stratford from 28 Oct – 1 Nov – and if your child is going to tread the boards, where better than the RSC? We reckon special effects workshop on 28 Oct, family puppetry on 29 Oct and young people workshops will be super popular so book in quick. <a href="https://www.rsc.org.uk/events/october-half-term-activities">Here’s</a> the full list of what’s on.

For more hands-on fun head to Warwick Arts Centre for free <a href="https://www.warwickartscentre.co.uk/whats-on/ngZ-workshop-wednesdaysautumn-term-2024/">workshop Wednesdays</a> led by artists and student societies every hump day. On&nbsp;30 Oct&nbsp;artist Taiba Akhtar will run a workshop inspired by Diwali and Rangoli where you can make an origami style candle and learn to print on it. Expect to get to grips with everything from perspex to palette knives, brushes, paint, ink and rollers.



At FarGo Village in Cov there&#8217;s <a href="https://www.fargovillage.co.uk/events/stem-goes-wild-october-half-term">workshops</a> for science experiments like slime making, and wand making sessions on 30 Oct. If they need to burn a bit more energy check out the <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/DBOpS_jAi9Q/">skateboarding club</a> on 31 Oct to learn the basics of skating. 



Also in Cov there&#8217;s some awesome events (as always) on at the <a href="https://www.theherbert.org/default.aspx">Herbert Art Gallery &amp; Museum</a> with the highlight being chance to stop under a 26ft dinosaur! <a href="https://www.theherbert.org/whats-on/1767/doze-under-dippy">Doze Under Dippy</a> is on 26 Oct for 6-11 year-olds and their grown-ups. It&#8217;ll include a torchlight tour of the museum, arts and crafts and breakfast in the morning. During the week there&#8217;s also chance to <a href="https://www.theherbert.org/whats-on/1831/skulls-spooky-skeletons-animals">make art</a> inspired by the museum&#8217;s collection of human remains and animal taxidermy and there&#8217;s a Freaky Family Fun Day on 26 Oct. Just down the road there&#8217;s a <a href="https://stmarysguildhall-tickets.ticketsolve.com/ticketbooth/shows/1173648363">lantern workshop</a> at St Mary&#8217;s Guildhall from 20-29 Oct. There will then be a pretty parade through the city centre, complete with live band and ending with a spooky show.

At Thinktank in Brum there&#8217;s <a href="https://www.birminghammuseums.org.uk/events/lego-creature-workshop">Lego creature</a> workshops throughout half term. For something a little spookier check out the <a href="https://www.birminghammuseums.org.uk/events/spooky-science-night">trick and treat science night</a> on 1 Nov, including silent disco and Halloween activities. There&#8217;s also <a href="https://www.birminghammuseums.org.uk/october-half-term">film nights</a> with movies from Ghostbusters through to ET playing in the planetarium. 



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-theatre-amp-music">THEATRE &amp; MUSIC</h2>



At Warwick Arts Centre there’s an adaptation of Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler’s <a href="https://www.warwickartscentre.co.uk/whats-on/3Ot-the-baddies/">The Baddies</a> on 26 &amp; 27 Oct &#8211; make a day of it and check out the <a href="https://www.warwickartscentre.co.uk/whats-on/rE4-family-singingautumn-2024/">family singing session</a> on 27 Oct. If they&#8217;ve never been to a concert before check out <a href="https://www.warwickartscentre.co.uk/whats-on/riL-my-first-concertautumn-2024/">My First Concert</a> on 31 Oct for a relaxed, interactive performance by professional classical musicians. It&#8217;s perfect for ages 0-7 years and designed especially for babies, children and their adults, and means you and kick back and enjoy some live music, albeit maybe not as wild as that Prodigy gig you went to in the 90s. 



If they&#8217;re into music check out <a href="https://www.thestringsclub.org/events?locations=Leamington+Spa">The Strings Club</a>&#8216;s award-winning sessions in Leamington Spa, incorporating music and childcare. You can book for a day or treat yourself, and them, to the whole week. It’s suitable for ages 4 through to 11 so get them inspired by picking up the guitar, violin or ukulele. <h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-ghost-hunts-amp-castles">GHOST HUNTS &amp; CASTLES</h2>



During half term ages 12 and under get free entry to the <a href="https://www.lordleycester.com/">Lord Leycester</a> in Warwick, where there’s a murder mystery trail from&nbsp;25 Oct – 4 Nov. There’s also after-hours ghost walks at the site for ages seven and up on&nbsp;30 &amp; 31 Oct&nbsp;to find out more about headless knights and medieval monks who haunt the buildings – spooky!

And South Warwickshire&#8217;s other castle has been taken over by spooks galore between 26 Oct and 3 Nov. Think scare mazes, haunted hollows, scary stories in the dungeons and live shows at Warwick&#8217;s <a href="https://www.warwick-castle.com/explore-1/events/the-haunted-castle/">Haunted Castle</a>.
