Not Worthy Farm, but Hilltop…the Muddy Awards Drinks
Taking a leaf out of Michael and Emily Eavis' book, we held our Muddy Awards Drinks, pre-Glastonbury, on Warwickshire's own answer to Worthy farm...
We may not’ve had tickets for Glastonbury but we had our own festival vibe going on at the inaugural Muddy Warwickshire Awards 2017 drinks on Hilltop Farm in Hunningham, near Leamington, with Laura Marling, The xx and Toots and the Maytals on the playlist, surrounded by fields and gorgeous summer views over Shakespeare county (after all the sun, wellies were definitely not needed).
The day before it was sweltering hot, so we had a pink vintage ice-cream van and hay bales on stand-by, but it was cool and breezy as you can see from the windswept hair-dos in the photographs. Our marquee was a buzz of excitement as winners collected their certificates/window stickers, quaffed champagne/Prosecco and tucked into nibbles, crackers and local cheeses from Hilltop Farm Shop and home-made cake. Then it was outside for fun, farmland frolics and photos.
A heartfelt Muddy recommendation for Lotte Ellis and the lovely team at the family-run Hilltop Farm Shop & Cafe, Hayloft Restaurant and Craft Studio, who also won Best Glamping for Hilltop Hideaways – an inspiring enterprise and a truly unique Warwickshire venue. The Ellis family run everything from beer and cider festivals to summer BBQ feasts and glamping festival-themed weddings.
So, a great big Muddy thank you to Hilltop Farm for having us, to our very charming and talented photographer Jamie Gray (founder of Rugby’s stylish online lifestyle mag, Hologram) and to all the winners who very kindly gave up their lunch hour to join us for some bubbly. It was brilliant to see so many indie’s coming together and to meet everyone in person. Apologies to those who were unable to attend (& thanks to Bernadette from Aromatics of Kenilworth who sent her two bemused sons as honorary ‘stand-ins’).
Congratulations to these beautiful Warwickshire- based businesses – all ‘worthy’ winners. A big up to our very deserving Finalists too! They say a picture speaks a thousand words, so here’s some lovely images of this year’s winners…
Here’s a reminder of all our 2017 Muddy Warwickshire winners. Do check them and our runners up out for yourself. They clearly have a lot of fans already!
